Gorgeous. This is an endearing shot, even if photographs can't be endearing.

thank you.

So why can't a photo be endearing? Couldn't a photo inspire affection? Or are you saying that there needs to be a living element?

No no, I think this -does- inspire affection, and I don't particularly feel that there has to be a living element in a photograph to make it endearing... (the years of use on the fence would certainly count as a "previously loved" sort of living element so that counts).

I mostly used to word "can't" because I wasn't sure that you would feel the same, or other readers would feel the same about a photograph.

sorry if I came across as snippy, that's the problem with electronic communication - not enough emoticons to convey my mock offense.

I feel that the ultimate goal of any art form is to communicate -something- whether that is a simply emotion or a more complex message of some sort.

My father has been a college art professor for nearly 30 years now and one of his famous quotes is "If it don't communicate it ain't art. Any dummy can make a mark."

thanks for your time and comments!

Not snippy!
We could spend the next 30 posts apologizing for how text makes it hard to communicate emotion.

Let's not!

It's a great photograph and I <3 it.

Nice shot. At first I thought this should be in B&W. But then I noticed the beautiful blue color of the sky. Definitely color was the way to go on this one.
