Description
-For people who are beginners in Photoshop, or want to learn simple steps-
The original photograph is found here: [link] Now you've seen it, can you not see the overbearing pink and the purple path? That's why I clicked "Auto colours" in the beginning of my tutorial, to get it back to what it should look like.
This is merely ideas for people. The last step in particular is to show people HOW to use textures really easily. 95% of my gallery is without textures but that doesn't mean it's something useful to know.
I've gotten a couple of really crappy comments all because I am trying to help people with photoshop. I even typed the tutorial while I had a virus. So please, have some sensitivity :\
I have other tutorials:
+"Quick Tutorial; Vintage Style"
+Tutorial: Creative Editing Comments & favourites are welcome, they encourage me to keep making more tutorials, thank you!
The size of the tutorial is quite large, you can full view or download though!
A lot of people constantly ask me how to edit photographs and not go too overboard. I have created this tutorial for people who have Photoshop and want to learn how they can enhance, change or fix colours in photographs.
Please note that not ALL photographs need much editing, just the photographs you personally feel could be better. I find that if I'm too tired to go and re-take a photo, I will try and enhance the photo I already have!
Remember; if you have used one texture, you can still put your photograph in "Photography > Darkroom > Digital". It's still classified as photography.
Photograph in tutorial is a stock photo from sxc.hu Amazing Textures for you to use:
Texture 07 by ~oleo-kun
Texture 04 by ~oleo-kun
10 old paper textures by `bleeding-dragon More textures can be found here
Feel free to comment and tell me anyway I can improve!

So, I should only post sycophant comments?

Er, did I say that you should 'flatter' me?
There is something called "constructive criticism". It basically means to leave a critique that is beneficial and helpful towards the artist's goal of improving. I did say, if you read my entire description, that I would like to improve with everything; a real artist can critique and also improve on their work.
Now in no way did I say that you should flatter my artwork. I am honest enough to know that not everyone will love my work, but if so, a good honest comment is bound to help me get to my best standard.
I create my tutorials for ideas, for knowledge of photoshop, for beginners, etc. Not everyone is going to like my own method of this, but it's the simplest way I can put it, I have to ensure that my tutorials are easy enough to use. I like to think of my larger audience.
Now let's go back to your 'comment'. "It was nice up to the texture; but why do all that work, only to ruin it on the last step? " A blank face? Was that really needed to help me improve? No one else thought my tutorial was 'ruined', but if you'd like to elaborate to help me, then please do so.
If not. Don't bother.

It's just that I have a deep and abhorrent loathing of "textures".
I thought it was going nicely; actually making improvements, until that step.

okay. Well I'm sorry you don't like textures, it's a shame because they can be quite beautiful. I'm merely offering some help to people. Thanks anyway.

Actually that wasn't the original, the original was an overbearing pink colour, I only clicked "autor colours" to get it back to normal. [link] Even the path is purple. So no, I don't think the original is better
If you'd like to leave more than a couple of words, that would be nice

easiest way to do a vignette ever! I had been making a new layer, selecting a rectangle just inside the image, feathering it, selecting inverse, then filling the selection with black with the paint bucket!

i don't think the use of a texture should remove a photograph from a classifiable category where someone could locate it for it's content. Tis still a photo, and you should not be pressured into putting it into a category which is nothing more than a scrap heap for every single kind of photo known to mankind. when shooting with my holga the negatives are often dirty when i scan them in, but there is no texture added.
very nice tutorial! you added photos and everything, unlike mine where i just typed in how to do it congrats! x
