Description
Because I got really sick and tired of not getting any art done, I decided to get this drawing finished the old-fashioned way.Colored Pencils! (Dun, dun duuuuuunnnnn)
Yeah, I'm really tired of waiting to be able to buy my mac Adobes, so I colored this one by hand.
I drew this back during my trip to North Carolina. (Which was several months ago, to those who haven't been paying attention.)
It's been sitting with several other drawings waiting to be colored.
Grarrarrarr.... Bleh.
.....Anyway, yeah. Here's Jessica Rabbit as a gargoyle.
I don't know what posessed me to draw Jessica. I suspect it may have been to see if I was capable of drawing sexy women.
Which apparantly I am.
This is my first successful attempt at drawing boobs that are bigger than b-cup.
lol, But on a serious note, Jessica's one of very few "sexy" characters that I actually like, so she was the perfect candidate for this project.
She's gorgeous, smart, resourceful, can take care of herself AND she's 100% faithful to her husband.
..........And she can pull all that off without coming off as corny.
In the process of bringing it from paper to pixels, I realized why I rarely bother coloring pictures by hand.
My scanner butchers the crap out of colors and pops out every blemish possible, including several that cannot be seen by the naked eye on the actual paper version. >=/
This makes me love the "Bandaid" tool in Photoshop. (can't remember the actual name of the tool, but the button looks like a little bandaid
Because I was able to fix all the little spots and blemishes that the scanner picked up.
Using the adjustments and filters in Photoshop, I managed to get this thing PRETTY close to what it looks like on paper, but it still looks better if you see it in person.
So, there you go. Here's what my art looks like when I use colored pencils instead of digital media.
I MIGHT consider doing more like this in the near future, seeing as the chances of me getting Adobe in my mac anytime soon looks REALLY slim. =/
And seeing as I got a nice pile of these drawings that I've had sitting since my trip, it's a very strong possibility.

Very lovely pic and version of Jessica! Have you tried cleaning your scanner tray? It may be picking up dust on the bed and interpreting it as part of the image.

I didn't think of that. I'll have to try it.
It has been a long time since I've cleaned it.

I really like the colouring and textures in this piece. I like how you made her quite muscular in Gargoyle form, I think the original Jessica was quite slender. (I think the Gargoyles series characters are quite buff? I don't remember it's been a few years since I used to watch it! )
I apologise if the critical part of this sounds a bit nitpicky! The pose is a little dull and it would have been interesting to see a full body picture so we could see Jessica with Gargoyle legs and talons! Most of the anatomy looks good, but the way her hair is tucked over her right shoulder gives her bust a strange shape on that side.

Yeah Gargoyles have a bit more muscle mass to them than humans do, which is why I made Jessica a little more muscular than she is normally.
I appreciate your critiques, and I agree with them whole-heartedly.
I'm not very good at drawing "sexy", so this was sort of stepping out of my comfort zone.
I also didn't like how the hair looked there either.

As long as it's Jessica, she looks good in any species.

Ever seen the Nostalgia Critic review of the sexiest animated women? It includes Jessica and a rather interesting fun fact.

I've not seen any of Nostalgia Critic's videos, actually.
Actually no, that's not true. I did see his one commentary on Gargoyles, and that was pretty funny.
But anyway, I might have to check out.

Indeed you should. I recommend to start at the bottom and work your way up so you can see the evolution of the videos, and gain some perspective for the later episodes.

One of these days I just might.
I'm always looking for something to have as side noise while I work.

Me too. Have you considered Red vs Blue? They are terribly hilarious in their own little world and make excelent background the second time around.

What's Red vs Blue?

If you're not familuare with machinima, it is essientally filming the activities of players during a game's multyplayer mode. Halo is the dominant and most popular game used for this medium and RvB pretty much helped pioneer it as a viable and entertaining medium. Look them up on youtube or their website Rooster Teeth.
Admitadly it is a bit of an acquired tase, but the episodes are short. Just sit through 15 minutes and you should be hooked.

Ah, I see.
I am familiar with Machinima, but the only ones I've watched are WoW ones. (mostly the ones made by Oxhorn. He's funny. XD)
I think most of the reason I'm not that into machinima is because almost all the games used are ones I've never played. (like Halo and WoW. Never played 'em)

Don't let that be a turn off. There is a great joke from a Gears of War Machinima called "No won't let you". Simply hilarious.
I would also recommend "Spriggs".

I didn't say it was a turn off. Far from it. Oxhorn's machinima are quite entertaining.
It's just very difficult to find an interest point when you know nothing about the games used to make the videos.

That's actually an advantage of RvB. Early on they wanted to avoid Bungie and the main story line so they avoided it like the plague. Eventually relations between the 2 companies eased up, resulting in recent episodes having a lot more to do with the main Halo saga.
However, the earliest episodes of RvB are their own original story with original characters. The 3rd season is mostly filler but it pay's off half way through.
In closing: please watch it, or else.

I think green made the best contrast with her other features, personally.
What would you have suggested?

I'm not sure >< I thought perhaps more of a tone like Elisa had when she was a gargoyle. But, even that doesn't seem like it'd work. I think it'd be interesting to see her in white flesh, and black flesh..just cause but yeah.
Seriously though, I have no idea. I couldn't even make a suggestion before when I made my first comment. I just sat there for the longest time and stared....like...I don't know X3
It's your work though and you made it, I'm nobody to tell you that you did wrong.

Probably a different shade of green would've been better. =/
Of course, the scanner did the original piece no justice, so the green is a lot brighter than what the actual pic looks like.

Broadway is like...a teal green over a blue..er, blue-green. Light sea-foam green? X3 I've always thought of him more of a shade of green over blue.

He always seemed more of an aqua blue to me. =/
It's one of those colors that can be interpreted either way I suppose.
But no, that's not the green I was talking about.
It would still look like green to everybody, just not such a WOW GREEN!
Especially after running through the scanner. ¬_¬
