Description A bit of an idea I'm tossing around in my head.
It all started when I decided that I was gonna redesign mermaids because the way they traditionally look is rather dumb.
I mean think about it. Their top half is literally human (no fish characteristics at all), and their bottom half is literally fish (no ressemblance to the rest of the body). An animal like that doesn't make any sense at all. Where the hell are the gills? In its butt? And if they are fish, why do the girls have boobs (which are traits of mammals, not fish)?
Anyway, yeah you get it. Point being the top half does not match the bottom half at all.
So I threw that idea around in my head and that idea lead to an entire world of marine people, consisting of both fish and whales (on which boobs would actually kinda make sense).
This was the first incarnation of that idea. One of the whale species on this aquatic world. The Orca....Guy....thing... I'll come up with a proper name later.
The whale people (being air-breathing mammals) like to go out on the beach every once in a while and hang out with their whaley friends. Their long, strong arms and large, padded hands allow for them to move around on land with ease. The armored skin along their bottom halves allow them to drag their tails behind them without injury and to support themselves in an upright position, similar to the snake people that live further inland.
When in the water, they press their arms tightly to their bodies to allow maximum flow.

...ok I'll shut up now. Enjoy.
I may or may not come up with a story in this world, and I may or may not draw more characters for this world.
Who knows? We'll just see.

This was all done with a 0.5 mm mechanical pencil. The shading was probably a waste of the lead and I probably could've used a normal #2 pencil for all that, but oh well.
I don't really like hoe his left hand turned out. It came out too small. >
And though I like how it looks, the armored skin is slanting in the wrong direction. >_<
Would probably hurt to drag your bottom half behind you when your body armor slants against the drag.
But oh well. I love how the pads on the right hand turned out, though. =]
And I like the body coloring. I've never done body coloring this smoothly.
Yep. I love it and hate it at the same time. Go figure.
