Hey, Happy New Year! And I only just remembered that it is also Colin Morgan's birthday (yay, Happy Birthday!) so what a fantastic coincidence that I'm ready to post this piece today! XD I just wanted to draw/paint his face... yet again... but I'll admit I got carried away over the holiday, what with all this blessed free time.So have some scales (which are a bit more suited for an oriental dragon, but, meh...) and a coin pendant (it reads KING ARTHUR - ALBION, if it's hard to make out). If you're familiar with the show, you might recognize my attempts at symbolism, haha. Anyway, these elements were new to try for me, so definitely not perfect, but it all was fun and challenging all the same.
Oh, hope things don't look too dark and contrasted on your screen, I've noticed quite a difference between my laptop and other monitor, bah... D:
I suppose this could also be a commemorative piece for the end of Merlin's 4th season... ah, so horrible that we have to wait until the Fall for the next one... Well, at least Sherlock's second season starts today! Another lovely coincidence, eh?

Oh, yes, I've also heard that the 5th season shall be the last... but there was also a little rumour that they might make a film as well! How lovely would that be! I'm definitely looking forward to the "magic reveal". It better be all kinds of epic, haha!

Oh...my...word. This is very, very attractive and very well done, the lighting is gorgeous and so is the contrast of the gold. His lips and hair look beautiful, very soft and realistic.

I'm oddly fond of the golden highlights in his hair and his face is simply amazing- such good work. The only thing I don't quite like is the red color of the string; I would have kept the picture grayscale-gold in its entirety. Love this!

Thank you for the kind thoughts! I was actually a bit undecided about the red string myself, which I eventually included just to hint at that Camelot red that's everywhere on the show... but many people seem to appreciate the "grayscale-gold" combination more than anything else, so I've gone ahead and changed it to black!
And, yes, I think this little change does make the piece look better - more complete! It's nice to bring some of the pitch black of his hair and face into the bottom half of the picture, so thanks so much for the suggestion! It's so great to get some helpful concrit once in a while. : ]

The contrast between monotone and gold colour is really nice. And those delicate gradation just made me silence. Ahhh also the most important thing is your Merlin(or Colin) always looks like the original and insanely handsome at the sametime

this one is just so perfect! I nearly collapsed when I saw it I love the idea of a dragon tatoo, it gives us the excuse of seeing his skin a little bit ;D coz we're not very spiled for this part in the show, hopefully you're here ^^ the coin/pendant is really well done and yes, I catch the symbolism entirely *.* trying right now to see the 2nd part of A Scandal in Belgravia, it looks fabulous : D D

XD I almost gave him his usual shirt and neckerchief in this piece, but I wanted to show off his collarbones, lol... so I'm glad you like the tattoo and pendant. Thanks again!
