Description

He belonged to the wild.

fiiiiiinally, huh?

this is my very beloved boy, tonatiuh. he is the embodiment of a guardian spirit / vision of the native american tribes of the great plains.

he has a secondary fact sheet (because i am indecisive and have so much to share on him) that is currently incomplete as well as i await more stuff i have in the works for him being completed.

***** feel free to skip over the next bit as it an open address to the opinions related to native american characters and addresses my personal relationship to the subject at hand. *****

i'm quite insightful to the displeasure some have regarding these types of characters and, first and foremost, want to express this character is not meant in any way to be found offensive.

the timing of me acquiring this particular design (from a literal angel - renevene ) came among the midst of a TON of family hardship that is still ongoing and has brought me a solace i cannot begin to put accurate words together to properly explain.

i do not claim that any small percentage of native american blood that i have myself through my family's lineage gives me any sort of special privileges regarding the reluctance towards these types of characters.

this character is not meant in any form or fashion to disrespect any of the limited known practices of the tribes. he is not simply native american "inspired" but is a native american based entity - depicting practices and an image that would have been traditional. while he does have a more modern rendition/version to him - this is for the sake of allowing my muse to write him in multiple settings with different, varying aspects to his character developmentally and because sadly so much has been lost of such valuable cultures through what should be considered nothing short of genocide.

please meet me half way and understand my only wish is to continue my endeavors and my love of learning more about the indigenous people of the united states (and around the world in future). this connection for me relates to my maternal grandmother who, unfortunately, has continually fallen quite ill time and time again since november of last year. this is a very personal character to me - in these stages of having to accept i will not have my grandmother forever (like the child in every grandchild wants), i've found with her a measure of peace through conversation about her own parents, where she came from, and her past. i grew up with her keeping small tokens, some artifacts i presume, from her father (whom was of cherokee origin) and past all about her house. the o great spirit prayer has hung beside her bed for a long as i can remember, still does even now.

through this, she has given me a gift, unknowingly or perhaps knowingly, a reminder of a something that was so vastly obvious and part of my daily life as a child. i spent my youth, long summer days, roaming the acres of her land lost in a world i fear that was more home to me than any other place i have tried to rest my tired mind and body my entire life. this character is a pause to remind myself continually what my soul values and what it needs. i have always struggled to find place in this world and more so for "religion" for myself but, through the months i have spent making myself more knowledgeable about a way of life that has always oddly been with me since my grandmother's teachings at a very young age, i have a sense of clarity and assured"ness" i have never known in all my adult life. it does not cure the sadness i already feel consistently every day for this immense loss i feel is far closer than i would like to admit but... it helps more than anything else probably ever could.

therefore, for those that can view my character and see discrepancies with a level of personal experience or knowledge base related to significant lineage and / or culture and practices, please feel free to shoot me a note. i am open to discuss. please know, this does not mean i will be altering my character for others. with complete absolution - i will not entertain hostility or immaturity regarding being approached about this. there is so much so say in regards to how i have no hate to give anyone because good energy is all i have to give, as evidenced by many great artists i have spoken to on this matter or in general. i am happy and would be delighted to talk with anyone who has blood lineage and would love to talk about practices and the culture of native americans or really any of the indigenous people of north america as a whole. the cultures fascinate my entire being unlike anything else ever in my life. i cannot say that enough for me to get my legitimate feelings about it across, trust me. this has easily become something extremely important to me that i am equally as passionate about and stirs within me some unknown nostalgia.

no disrespect, only love and curiosity.

I'm super excited to see you bring this guy over to Novus <3 he certainly seems to be well-loved, and, from what I've seen of him so far, I expect he'll be a delight to read!

ahhh!!! thank you so much! you are too kind! this is super encouraging as i’m usually pretty hesitant to jump into big roleplay groups because there are always a zillion other more amazing characters and i’m like “how do i write with them all???” you will see him about soon though, i promise! i’d fully welcome a plot or plots too if he peaks your interest!

I relate to that, actually - I’ve been with Novus since the day it opened, but lots of big roleplay groups scare me off because there’s so much established information and so many established characters. It can be hard to find a place! Novus is super welcoming, though, and everyone I’ve met is very open and enthusiastic. <3 Depending on what Court you put him in, Sera and I’d love to plot with him! Super excited to see him around, in any case.

If you have any questions or anything, lemme know - I might be able to help.

YELLS cause Tonatiuh is such a well-thought out and developed character and his tie to the Native American culture is so artfully done. Your personal connection to him is incredible, and I've never seen a character so treasured and with such a deep meaning behind him <3

I can't wait to see him on Novus, everyone will love him there!!
