this one was like a dream really, when eric said he was going home to draw this one night i was so jealous thinking somebody else would get to color an ebas cover with wolves (my favorite animal)
when i started this (flatting it myself) i was really pumped about it, and promptly jumped right in to it feet first.
one thing about jumping into a cover is when you go in only with half your heart you might end up coming back out of it a little before you are done, but you stay safe in knowing you wont be over-thinking anything. but when you jump in feet first, you fall into it and can have your heart broken, much like love in fact.
i had my heart broken, as this didn't exactly turn out as i wanted. i guess in the end i'd wished the sunshine was someplace else.

I see no reason why you should feel sad about this piece, I think it is very well done. Excellent even.
The sky itself looks extremely realistic, almost as though it was a photo, not just painted. I particularly like the colouring on the girl as well; the sort of animated realism style that I like so much
The only criticism I could possibly muster is in the positioning of the wolves eyes. They seem a little low to me, and much too dull and monotone. But that may not be your deal, so feel free to ignore.
I agree with you about the sun though, it would create a more oppressive environment if it were higher in the sky. Even so, the skin flaring you put into the picture is amazing.

In a way, I think the sun glaring brightly tells a bit of the story, y'know? The somewhat parched, dry landscape, a bit of oppressive heat.
That being said, and as much as I hate to say it, I find the wolves to be a bit... off. I think it might be the eye placement, or the shape of the muzzle. But that's on Eric, and not your work.
Still, the sensual skin tones, the lighting, and the textures all are top notch.
We can't always be happy with *everything* we do, all we can do is our best.
