Really cool!
Was it in your sketchbook?
It's gorgeous!
I wish it didn't have the lines through the middle!
You're really good!
Please treat yourself to a bigger piece of paper!

yes this is 5 years old when i used to draw in the sketchbooks with the spines. lines through it dont matter though because it was painted over anyways.

You painted over the original?
How could you?
Just kidding, I guess I kinda have a thing for rough sketches!
It's ok, you're a talented artist. I'm sure you have lots of gorgeous work!

haha well, most of my work turns into digital paintings where the lines dont show. i miss having all my work in one book like i used to with those, but i dont use them anymore.

Maybe you should keep a book around just for the heck of it. The rough ideas are so cool looking!

i still have one, i just dont use it anymore, the paper isn't that great in them.

Yeah, I guess sketch paper isn't too good.
It's funny, I hate to transfer stuff. Sometimes I'll spend hours on something on crappy sketch paper. I think there's something cool about the original that gets lost when you copy it.

most of the time thats the cause of a crappy scanner.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThePlanetRodinia In reply to WhiteHowler7 [2010-10-17 04:32:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I don't mind scanning!
I mean the old school transfer with tracing paper of on opaque projector.
To have your work on better paper on canvas.
Scanning usually works pretty good I just wish they made scanners bigger!

WhiteHowler7 In reply to ThePlanetRodinia [2010-10-17 05:58:02 +0000 UTC]

they make them huge! but scanners that size are usually $3k+

It looks like a Muchas' kinda style... I mean that frame and so on...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WhiteHowler7 In reply to Ksysiak [2009-01-13 20:44:12 +0000 UTC]

it's called art nouveau

👍: 0 ⏩: 3

Ksysiak In reply to WhiteHowler7 [2009-01-13 21:52:47 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure if you can call it this way... but who cares - really nice.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WhiteHowler7 In reply to Ksysiak [2009-01-13 22:02:11 +0000 UTC]

that is mucha's style. you cant call it mucha without saying it's art nouveau

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ksysiak In reply to WhiteHowler7 [2009-01-13 23:11:03 +0000 UTC]

but still Muchas' style is 'art nouveau' but 'art nouveau' isn't Mucha. It means - it works only in one way. So MUCH safer is calling it Muchas' style... in my opinion, at least.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WhiteHowler7 In reply to Ksysiak [2009-01-13 23:13:59 +0000 UTC]

well the border and such you mention is not mucha, but art nouveau style.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ksysiak In reply to WhiteHowler7 [2009-01-14 09:43:26 +0000 UTC]

hmm... so why such a painters as Obrist Hermann, or Beardsley are known as a 'art nouveau' artists? They do not use the same style...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WhiteHowler7 In reply to Ksysiak [2009-01-14 19:24:40 +0000 UTC]

it is variations of the same style.

certain things mucha does are art nouveau, but not all things art nouveau are like mucha, you said it yourself.
