This is my entry for 's contest. One had to draw their own OC and write out their backstory. For this, I drew my OC Allen and eh, I dunno where to start telling his story (it's.... complicated xD) But I will give it a try. Here goes, from start to end:

Personality: Never avoids a good fight. Alert of his surroundings and very stealthy, but shows his very lazy and fun-loving side when given the chance to relax. Seems to have a bit of an addiction to video gaming.

Everything written in Italic is a bit of backstory to the backstory itself. Kind of an explanation as to how and why the political and cultural situation is the way it is at the time Allen's story takes place.

It all started with a leak about human experimentation for the sake of 'scientific progression and a better future for the human race'. Or at least, that was what the secret military organisations said when they were confronted with the proof material that they were behind the repeated disappearance of children from orphanages. Countless demonstrations and protests arose, and soon after, it was revealed that secret human experimentation was done among many other secret organisations as well. People began to distrust their own governments like never before, gradually followed by disrespect. Governments worldwide began to lose power over the enraged civilians, and the economically weaker first-world countries were the first to fall into total anarchy.
The public demanded for these guinea pig orphans to be released immediately, but several of these children were host to an odd virus that remained dormant until exposed to a small amount of nuclear radiation.

Most of these children did not come in contact with it, with the exception of the 16 year old Ukrainian Павло Шевченко (Pavlo Ševčenko), who was sent back to Orphanage No. 12 in Kiev. To welcome him back to the orphanage, a trip to the city of Pripyat was announced, a now touristic place that had been evacuated after the Chernobyl Disaster. However, due to the low levels of radiation still being present here, the virus within Pavlo turned active.
He began to turn notably pale and his eyes began to turn red, both due to a sudden drop in the production of pigment. The following days he also started to exhibit more agressive behavior towards others characterized by biting and scratching, and he began to abuse alcohol.
Several days later, a pile of ashes was found in his room in the shape of what used to be his body, along with several heavily scorched feathers. However, the bed he was laying on when this happened was somehow unscathed. The nurse told it happened when he went to open his window -letting sunlight into his room- and returned to his bed afterwards.

However, since he had bitten several other children the now active virus had not vanished with Pavlo's death.

We move about 25 years forward, where the virus has spread worldwide and has mutated, silently settling itself within it's hosts. Infected people are known to lose pigment and stop producing it, painfully sprout feathered wings in the same colour of those of the one who bit them, they grow sharp fangs with internal pockets of the virus to make it spread easier when used to bite, and become intolerant to sunlight to the point that they combust when in direct contact with it.
However, the virus also grants longevity to where it is considered to be close to immortal, as it both obliterates all other viruses and also makes the host unable to age physically, given that they must live off blood alone to survive.
The term "Vampire" is generally accepted for those who have become infected with it, because of the similarities to the mythical creature, but not many know of the condition since they are nocturnal and form small colonies to stay hidden. In this by now chaotic world with a near-powerless government (as the result of the events 25 years ago going out of hand), it has become relatively easy for these vampires to stay undiscovered. Mostly small groups of people know about their existence, and many others only hear rumors about it. Not everyone who gets bitten actually turns into a vampire, either; only those who survive through the bite and do not die of sunlight in the following day successfully grow their wings.

This is where the story of Allen Warfare begins, a boy who lives in the Elysium Woods near Canada, one of the so-called "sanctuary" areas put up by pacific civilians. these sanctuaries are small regions that have been claimed by people who want to live in peace amidst the ever growing anarchy, since government protection is no longer a given. Within sanctuaries, rules and order keep things going, and only those willing to follow these rules are allowed to stay and live in peace.
Allen has spent his whole life so far in a sanctuary, never having been exposed to the wasteland outside. His life is relatively normal; he plays the same games, goes to the same school and has the same blessed life as everyone else in the sanctuary. However, what he doesn't know is that a clan of vampires lurks in it's forest area.

And so it happens; Allen loses a bet against his friends and is forced to tread into the forest all alone at midnight, due to rumors that it is a haunted place. He gets attacked and bitten (this attack caused him to go blind in one eye), and so begins his life as a vampire.

After struggling through having to kill his first human (after all, vampires need blood), and having older vampires tease him about it for days, he rather quickly adapted to this new life, learning the ins and outs of being a night creature. He got new friends, discovered a new world as a nocturnal being and gradually got used to the coppery taste of blood.
But then he finds out that one of many -now corrupted- secret organisations, Black Rose, has set upon using this new vampire species for their own goals.
After the government had become this close to falling and near-complete anarchy had clouded the world, several organisations rose up in order to claim the thrones for their own. Black Rose is one of these organisations, founded on the remains of a secretive government organisation that had nearly fallen apart as a result of the political downfall. Like each organisation that wanted to claim the throne, Black Rose had their own method. They were the first organisation to peform experiments on vampires, attempting to turn them into effective bioweapons.

Allen, on whom Black Rose had set their eyes for quite some time, got framed, captured, and became the first host to the symbiont/parasite Zeta-5C06, which takes control of the host's mind and causes it to obey orders by voice command, only responding to certain voices. It manifests itself as a purple, sentient fluid that leaks from the host's eyes when active. On top of it's effects, it has been designed to be able to co-exist within a body that has been altered by the agressive virus-mutation responsible for vampirism. However, because Allen (or 'Project S', as he is called within the facility) is a prototype, he can only fall under control of Zeta-5C06 for short periods of time. It was this flaw that ultimately allowed him to escape the facility amidst the heat of an attack of another organisation.

Allen fled to the south, after which he continued to roam through the country so that Black Rose would have a hard time framing him again. Aided by several clans and packs of other vampires and even several humans he meets along his travels, he always continues his fight against the organisation, longing for it's downfall. However, still being infected with Zeta-5C06, this turns out to be much harder than he had hoped for. While Black Rose's downfall is his primary goal, he also finds it important to one day be able to regain self-control as much as possible.

Likewise, Black Rose does not give up their search for the escaped prototype bioweapon. They must retrieve him, before another organisation becomes powerful enough to seize control of the country. Or before another organisation decides to steal their science project.
