A redraw of one of the many Serenity pics that I love, "Inner Demons" when in this AU she joins DOMA after running away from home from her mother.

Story: After Battle City, Serenity returns home ready to face the world thanks to getting her eye surgery and Joey giving her confidence and Tea and Mai's friendship.

However, her mother has become more strict of Serenity and even started to interfere in Serenity and Joey's phone conversations and wouldn't let her leave the house without her. Serenity asks her mother why she won't let her try new things since her operation, with her mother telling her that she knows nothing of the world and that she needs someone to take care of her, which led to a huge fight where Serenity tells her mother how she left Joey to fend for himself against their father as kids and her mother, in the heat of the moment, lets out she hated Joey and didn't want him to pay for her surgery saying, 'he didn't even back down when I lied about the cost of your operation!"

Serenity, shocked and infuriated, demanded her mother to tell her what she meant by lying about the cost of the operation, her mother tried to retract the question but it was too late and Serenity kept demanding what she meant, causing her mother to break down and confess that she lied about the cost of her eye surgery to scare Joey away and that her surgery was actually eight hundred to a thousand dollars instead. She didn't want Joey back in their lives and even more angry that he showed up to the operation and that she was kicked out after having a fight with him or barging back into their lives, and she was scared Joey might tell Serenity about how she took part in her father's gambling at first when they were younger to pay for her doctors appointments but backed out when her father got out of control.

Furious, something snapped in Serenity and her eyes glowed red and screamed, causing a huge wave of energy to burst out and caused her mother to fly across the room. Scared, Serenity ran away from home and an hour later, a medical truck came along with her mother telling Serenity she has to go with them as what she did was unnatural and it was for 'her own good'. Serenity panicked with the fear of being isolated again like when her eyesight was bad, until the paramedics were attacked by a man in a white and blue armor, when they were unconscious and half of them ran off in fear, he turns around and his armor disappears, and he was revealed as a handsome boy with fluffy hair and a cockney accent who offers to help Serenity escape from being detained. She accepted and escaped with him on his motorcycle in front of her mother, who called the police about her daughter being kidnapped.

She is later taken to a temple in the middle of an ocean by the help of his friends, Rafael and Alister, while he introduces himself as Valon. When they enter, she meets their boss Dartz, and he asks the boys to leave him and her alone together, which made her nervous at first until he assure her she is safe. She asks him who he was, and Dartz answered her question and tells her he knows who she is, who her brother is and that she's been lied to for a very long time and that she has a power within her that has finally awakened now that she got her eye operation.

When she asks Dartz what he meant by her being lied to, he tells her that her mother has lied to her in more ways than one besides her lying to Joey about the cost of her surgery and helping her father's gambling in the beginning. With the Orichalcos, he uses it's magic to show her the past when her parents were younger and how her mother was secretly stealing money from her father's winnings and how Joey told his mom to call it quits before it gets out of hand, which ended with their mother slapping Joey and keep out of their business, and it infuriated Serenity seeing their mother treat Joey like that.

But then a memory came to Serenity that shook her to her core, her mother never filed for divorce and actually kidnapped Serenity and abandoned Joey instead of the custody agreement she told her about where the 'judge' said her mother got to keep her while their father got Joey. And she kept Serenity isolated so she wouldn't know the truth about her crime and why she lied about the cost of the surgery, as she was afraid Joey would find out about their parents not being divorced and she could go to prison for kidnapping, fraud, theft and child abandonment.

Devastated and angry that her mother lied to her all these years and how Joey suffered for it, she screamed and another wave of her power came out, but this time she had claws and fangs coming out along with her olive eyes turned bright red. She panicked at first but Dartz tells her it's alright, and he reveals to her that she is the holder of the Red Eyes Ka which has awakened due to it's long slumber when she was sick but has finally awakened now that her eyesight has recovered. That was when he tells her about an evil pharaoh back in ancient Egypt that he's trying to destroy before he ruins the world he's trying to save, he shows the image of the Pharaoh, and to her horror, it was Yugi her brother's best friend.

At first she was conflicted and asked Dartz if it was a mistake as Yami Yugi helped her brother in the past and that there were some evil pharaoh's throughout Egyptian history, but he tells her that he IS the evil Pharaoh, and that her brother could be in grave danger once he regains his memories and ultimately betrays Joey and destroys him like how he did others in the past.

As Serenity contemplates how she was lied to herself by others and what she heard now, and is tired of people treating her like a child that should be locked away as well as fearing for Joey's safety, she agree's to help Dartz in his cause and he gives her the Orichalcos stone.

Since then, Serenity became more self sufficient and confident and stands up for herself more against Gurimo, and even started wearing makeup to show her maturity and due to her admiration of Mai who was the first female role model she's ever had, and to defy her mother who wouldn't allow her to wear makeup before, and even pierced her ears.

And Valon notices this, and likes whether she's natural or wears makeup, and their relationship begins to grow.

But little did she know, Dartz is using her powers of the Red Eyes Black dragon to destroy Yugi and once he's done with her, he plans to kill her. Will Joey and the Gang save her? Can Valon and his growing love for the Wheeler girl? We'll see very soon.
