Hannah wasn't sure why her father had called her into his office before his first Sermon at the new church her family will be attending. Ever since they moved from Spain to Britain, things were a bit hectic as they were the newest Spanish family to move to the community, which had a high rate of Catholics like her family. Many people came to see the new Pastor and his family when they arrived in Yorkshire, wondering which of the church's in the area he was going to preach in while meeting his wife and their four children and they were already invited to get togethers and parties.

But this morning at breakfast, her mother told her that her father wanted to speak to her and her only. Hannah couldn't lie, she was nervous, her father was an intimidating man and knew better than to cross him like the rest of her siblings were.

She stood in front of the door, and gently knocked on the door.

"Enter," a male voice spoke.

Hannah opened the door, and saw her father at his desk finishing paper work. His silver hair covering most of his face, except for his green eyes that were similar to his daughter's. Ernesto Fernandez was starting his first day at the church as the newest Pastor and will soon become part of the priesthood in the English community.

That was the main reason he moved his family over sea's to a place they have no knowledge of.

Ernesto looked up to see his daughter, and Hannah stood formally before him.

"You wanted to see me, Padre?" the teen girl asked.

He nodded, "Si, I do," he stood up from his desk, he was already dressed in his Cassock for his first day and stood in front of Hannah, "I wanted to discuss something with you. Something of great importance for our family now that we live here."

Hannah, confused, blinked, "What do you mean?"

Ernesto turned his body as he walked towards the window, he put his hands behind his back.

"As you know, the community we now reside in is one of the few places in this country where people call themselves Catholic and go to church regularly. Our faith is very important to them, so as a Preacher I must give guidance to the people and be a good example for the community as I spread the gospel."

"What does it have have to do with me?" Hannah asked.

Ernesto turned around and continued, "It has a lot to do with you because as my daughter, you also represent the church where I will be preaching to the people. Like back home in our old city, everyone will be looking to you and the rest of our family very closely, while it's human to make mistakes, you, your mother and your siblings must take extra caution with how you present yourself to the public."

Hannah felt taken aback by her father's comment, but she kept her composure and stood straight, "I see, if you don't mind me asking, but how come you want to talk to me about this? I've already learned that as a preacher's daughter I must be careful with how other's view me outside the church."

Ernesto's eyes lowered, making Hannah flinch and began to fear that she wasn't careful with her words this time.

"Actually, there is a reason why." he answered.

Hannah was surprised, her father went over to his desk and took a newspaper and gave it to Hannah, "Read the first page."

When Hannah scanned the paper, her eye's widened in horror.

Hannah felt like throwing up as she continued reading the page, while her father looked at her expressionless. Hannah looked at her father in disbelief and horror.

"A priest did such things!?"

"He wasn't just any priest, Hannah......Archie Phelps was once the pastor of the church that I'm now taking over today."

Hannah was silent. She knew that the church was facing some scandals for a while as crimes committed by the priests and pastors came up over the past year, but the story her father showed her made her see the horrible reality of what was happening in the church. The fact that a priest did such a thing to children made her stomach churn.

And now her father was going to be a preacher in the place where such horrible things took place!?

"When this story came out, everyone in this community was outraged, especially when his victims came forward. They are still traumatized by what happened and the wounds are still fresh. While we were welcomed with open arms, there are those who will not trust us and will be weary as scandals like this continue to grow, that's why I want you to be a good example for everyone here, so that their faith is restored and that they won't compare us to Archie Phelps in their minds."

Hannah was silent for a moment, but then she nodded. She knew that with such a tragedy it was going to be a long time before the healing can happen, while the damage is done she didn't people to lose their faith because of something so evil that took place in a place where someone was supposed to be safe.

"I understand." She answered.

"Very good," Ernesto walked passed the girl, "remember, it's hard to build a reputation, but in seconds it can be just as easily destroyed."

As Ernesto closed the door behind him, Hannah was speechless. She looked in her reflection and saw herself in her green dress, blending into her father's office perfectly with the colors, she frowned but didn't know why she felt sad. Was it because of the newspaper clip that her father showed her? Or was it something else?

Hannah left her father's office to head to the church.

The first chapter for my story about Valon's parents. I redesigned Hannah's hair a bit and we now have a glimpse of Hannah's father, Ernesto Fernandez, the strict Catholic preacher.

This will be a somewhat origin story about Valon's birth as it will solely focus on his parents, how they met, fell in love, had Valon and how he became an orphan in the first place.
