Description ...Could apply to any portrait drawing, actually...

Well, I know it's weird and maybe this could make me look conceited, but I made this thing because he's AWFULLY difficult to draw and I'm sort of an expert in Reidology now. Counting also my failed attempts, I drew him more than 30 times.
And it was rather instructive.

**Sorry for the typing mistakes, too late to correct them XD
***Suddenly, I feel the need to stress one point: TAKE MEASUREMENTS while drawing the first construction lines. That's the most important thing you do while drawing portraits, unless you have a really trained eye.

I don't have other works because they are old, and I don't think they're good enough. I have account for 4 years, so I had some my works which I draw when I was 12 (O_O), and they were horrible. Really. But now I'm sure I'll add something soon

Hmmm... Allright, you asked for constructive criticism so I'll be picky. First of all, you didn't draw the sketch (or if you did I can't see it). The eyes look right, the nose doesn't, seems too flat and the nostril is too small. The angle of the cheekbone is slightly wrong. His eyebrows are too dark and look flat too, maybe it's the bad quality of the photo but they look, uh, blended? Reid's are medium brown, not black, so you should draw them with lighter strokes and darken only where you see the deeper shadows, and never smooth the area. The skin looks too dark as well, that's why I always apply shading in layers. You darkened areas that in the finished picture would look much better if left white. If you start with light grey all over the shaded parts of his face and darken progressively you'll see the difference. To make a good drawing sometimes you need to enhance the contrast. Unless your art teachers are morons who want you to replicate the exact grey hues of the reference picture, obviously. That would be dumb and totally useless for improving your artistic skills, but I know in art classes you do what you have to do to get good grades.

Oh yeah, I drew him, I don't know, about 15 or 20 times and I still can't get him right. It's just annoying now. As you said, he is awfully difficult to draw. Oh dear, I really hope your tutorial will help me.

Ottimo tutorial, direi!! fornisce consigli particolarmente utili, e sono sicura che l'esperienza che hai maturato sul "soggetto difficile" in questione sarΓ  di grande aiuto per ritratti suoi come di altri...io trovo che fare tutorial sia difficilissimo, molti dicono cose ridondanti o veramente di scarso aiuto, quindi ammiro i tuoi sforzi e i tuoi risultati e poi, il ritratto usato come esempio per i procedimenti Γ¨ bellobellobello

I don't know... I don't sell fanart prints usually. I've always thought it could bring about copyright issues. But a lot of people does, so maybe I could try.
