Description
This is my entry for 's God/Goddess contest.I wanted to paint Norse Goddess Frigg showing her "clairvoyant" side, so in my painting she's - let's say - casting runes, perhaps to know the whereabouts of her husband Odin. Orion constellation is related to her in mythology.
The slicing branch was suggested by a strange dream I had about runes some years ago.
Orion constellation is taken from a Hubble telescope photo.
Pose reference from and ,
all the rest is from my imagination.

Extraordinary good detail on the background. I'm loving the fiolage and stone bench she's sitting on, as it looks very natural and adds a nice medium between hard and soft materials althroughout.
Of course, I would be missing something in the comment if I didn't say Frigg looks great too. The softness in her expression and colours brings out the elegance in this work; as does the pose. Overall, everything just comes together nicely.

This is most beautiful; the detail is exquisite and the colour balance flawless. Purple and green are so difficult to harmonise.
