He's an albino. Look at the red eyes. Eyes should always be black, brown, or green on mantids.

no not an albino, their eyes get dark when they are in a dark area for a given amount of time. The same mantis taken a few days later ---->[link] an hr before this was taken her eyes were dark...

That's amazing. I got some good mantis pics from one who decided to pay my front porch a visit a week or so ago. Here's what I caught:

when i first saw this i thought it was albino, due to the red eyes, but either way this is a great picture

That's an eerie picture. The eyes are so clear, look like gemstones. Nice contrast between colours.

I think that is actually one of the best photos ive ever seen of one incredible, what lens did you use and flash settings and so on?

WhiteShoresCalling In reply to frenchywlshman [2006-09-08 12:27:03 +0000 UTC]
:blushing: lens was 14-45mm and flash was on auto. I put her on a house plant and tried pictures of her in various places around the house and patio.(lol poor womans solution to lighting) Picture was a whole lot of luck. She kept her eye on me the whole time and was very happy to be back in the bush afterwards

she is a light grayish green her eyes are red because it was still early morning and still had her "night eyes on" (they get dark when it is dark). Also the flash makes her look a tad lighter than she really is
