Well, after about 4 days, here's the latest in my series of controled brushstrokes.
Seriously, I'm so happy with how this turned out!Well, this started when I noticed after drawing Xerneas that if you placed the "veins" on Yveltals body between Xerneas' antlers, it looked somewhat like a tree to me. They also mentioned a DNA theme, and going back to the tree I noticed before, I had the idea of using the Tree of Life. But I wasn't sure how to make it work. The next day, they released their names and I immediately thought "Yveltal/Xerneas, sounds Celtic or Nordic", and I thought of using a Celtic theme and tying everything together into a storybook-like illustration. After that, every element just fell into place until I knew this was what I was going to draw...and then I saw this article: [link] And I was even more happy I decided to go with the theme of a giant tree.
I'm so excited for this game, you just have no idea.
Anyway, yeah. I know, the poses aren't all that special, but hopefully someone likes this.

If it is Nordic, then there could be a Legendary Stag trio with Xerneas as the leader...as well as a serpent/dragon legendary in the roots and a squirrel messenger.

Well, if you look at the older illustrations, it has two legs...so maybe it'd be a "pseudo-wyvern" or something.

I find it odd that the author of the article doesn't consider what types the legendaries might be based on what they supposedly represent. If Xerneas is the X axis, or "ground level", then it would make sense that he is at least part (the four colors of its antlers also reminds me of the four segments that make up the "ladder rungs" of a strand of DNA). Since Yvertal is blind, it's rather obvious that it'll be / or vice versa. As for the dragon/serpant, since some depictions of the underworld are that of a swamp as opposed to fire or ice, it could be either / or / depending on how the swamp is defined.
