Well, after about 4 days, here's the latest in my series of controled brushstrokes. Seriously, I'm so happy with how this turned out!

Well, this started when I noticed after drawing Xerneas that if you placed the "veins" on Yveltals body between Xerneas' antlers, it looked somewhat like a tree to me. They also mentioned a DNA theme, and going back to the tree I noticed before, I had the idea of using the Tree of Life. But I wasn't sure how to make it work. The next day, they released their names and I immediately thought "Yveltal/Xerneas, sounds Celtic or Nordic", and I thought of using a Celtic theme and tying everything together into a storybook-like illustration. After that, every element just fell into place until I knew this was what I was going to draw...and then I saw this article: [link] And I was even more happy I decided to go with the theme of a giant tree.

I'm so excited for this game, you just have no idea.

Anyway, yeah. I know, the poses aren't all that special, but hopefully someone likes this.

Texture used:

Anyway, enjoy you guys!

This is really cool, and it looks amazing! This looks like something you'd see in a history book on the Kalos region!

Sorry, I don't sell prints anywhere. :< But you're free to print it out yourself. You can actually buy nice, quality print paper from an office store, just don't print it at such a large size that the image blurs.

Yeah a friend and I were discussing the legendaries being related to yggdrasil since a lot of games have Norse mythology in them. Of course, if this is true, it might mean the other legendaries are related to the giant tree. Wonder how they might make a story based off that.

Alot of people think there'll be a third dragon/serpent inspired by the sepent beneath the tree. I'd honestly love to see it!

I can see Xerneas being celtic cause it sounds/reminds me of the celtic god Cernunnos. Yveltal sounds more Aztec-ish cause of the sun god Quetzalcoatl which is the feathered serpent and that's what Yveltal reminds me of.

I agree with you, though for me Yveltal sounds more Nordic becaus of names like Yggdrasil, Njoror, Heimdallr, and Ymir.

This is plain amazing and I also though about the Yggradil-tree when seeing the mighty Xerneas.
The celtic theme is also integrated wonderfully here. ^^

k, so i faved. i love this. everything looks so in-touch, so linked. all the starters being there is nice, and the title reminds me of the location in 'lucario and the mystery of mew', where we have pokemon from gen 1, 3 and 4, and so this all links beautifully. amazing job!!

Love the majestic-ness of it all, the use of ornate design elements with the borders, the twilight-esque colour scheme, everything really - I'd be SO disappointed if Xerneas and Yveltal aren't [somehow] not a reference to Norse mythos now!

Ah this is beautiful 8) I love the celtic storybook look to this, the concept is well thought out and well executed. Very nice painting skills.
The only thing that could have been better is the starters. The drawings are a bit clumsy, it's more obvious in the way Froakie is drawn. They are quite as polished as the other two are.
The other thing is that they kind of blend too much into the background, I think it's because the backs of their circle patterns are the same dark tone as the tree next to it. For this to be fixed there would have to be a slight back lighting to them, or an outline like what you did with Yveltal.
Apart from the starters, this is overall VERY well done, I love it : )
