I had an Italian boyfriend for some years who lived in Foggia, and we would drive around to see the sights of this region quite a lot, mostly visiting the Gargano, but once we went to see Castel del Monte.

Apulia is beautiful and there are many beautiful places to see, so it would be worth a trip to see the castle but not only.

6 months ago we went on a road trip to Apulia with my friends
I've "googled" the entire area for sightseeings that we should see!
Too bad we didn't visit Matera.. the weather that day was awful
