Description

For many giantess fans, your first introduction into the subculture that is macrophilia is through photo-manipulation. With programs like Photoshop, any picture can be altered to look like anything else. So if you’ve been around DA for a while, or just the internet in general, you’ve probably seen when someone takes a picture of a well known celebrity and cuts them out of that picture to put somewhere else. This is the primace for an entire subgenre of macrophilia, which I will now discuss.

For this profile, there are actually two different categories: fictional and nonfictional. I’ll discuss fictional later, but for now let’s talk about nonfictional. There are a lot of famous women out there, of course. Many of them are quite beautiful, I will admit that. At least in good hollywood lighting and after an hour of make-up. People like to take pictures of famous, hot women. In fact, there are people whose entire jobs involve sneaking a picture of a famous person before escaping the angered security guards. But we have a lot of pictures of famous people on the internet and they don’t really care about copyrights in photos.

So this frees up macrophiles with a lot of free time to sift through the millions of pictures of hot hollywood actresses, find one of them in a pose that might resemble the action of a giantess, and then cut her out of the picture via Photoshop before sticking her in the middle of a urban setting, only this time much bigger. For example, someone might find a picture of Emma Watson in a bikini wading through the low-level tides at the beach. You could easily cut her out and paste her on a picture of a cityscape so that it looks like she’s 7 miles tall, killing thousands of people with each step she takes. Meanwhile, Emma is in her penthouse in San Francisco taking a bath in a tub full of hundred dollar bills and she has no idea that people are doing this to her likeness. But what does she care, really?

That’s the thing though: it’s super easy. It’s actually probably easier to do one of these kinds of pics then it is to draw a picture of a giantess instead. Trust me on this one: I drew the image for this deviant and it took me hours to finish. But if you wanted to take a picture of Kate Upton in a swimsuit lying on top of an aircraft carrier, that’s practically a 10 minute project. First...you need a picture of Kate Upton in a swimsuit lying down. Then you need a picture of an aircraft carrier. Cut, paste, and then you’re done. It’s that simple.

So that’s the nonfictional celebrity giantess. Basically, just real-life celebrities. Now, the fictional Celebrity giantess is a bit different. When I say “celebrity” I basically just mean any well known woman from a show, video game, manga, or anime. Characters like Hastune Miku (Vocaloids), Hestia (Is it Wrong to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon?) and Haruhi (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) are ones that I see particularly often on DA.

The giantess in the Deviant Image is actually Ahri, the nine-tailed Fox Girl from Riot Games’ “League of Legends.” Now, the character herself has no correlation with being a giantess. She’s a fox eared, soul-consuming seductress with a fondness for using magic on the battlefield. She’s normally 5-6 feet tall and as far as I know doesn’t harbor any secret desires to be big enough to crush a whole LoL battlefield under her foot. So why would this character be depicted as a giantess, which she often times is, at least outside of the game? Well, it’s because she’s hot. And she’s a well known game character. That’s….that’s really it actually. I love Ahri, and I love giantesses, and as long as I’m not making money off of this (which I’m not) then there’s no legal reason why I can’t do this picture. So I went ahead and did it.

That’s really the big reason why people like to do pictures where a beloved character is turned into a giantess. Mostly because we love that person and we’d love to see them as a giantess. And you don’t really have to manipulate a photo of them, you can just draw them. For some reason I never see people draw pictures of famous celebrities as giantesses. Always in photo manipulation.

I left out a category, sorry. There is a third category to this: the Cosplayer. Sometimes a Giantess OC will dress up like a well-known character rampaging around the city. That’s a good example of the best of both worlds: you can have the character you made pretending to be the character you like. And characters like Hestia and Ahri have some really neat costumes.

So in the end, whenever someone does a picture of a celebrity as a giantess, they are really showing that they love that person so much they want to see them act out their fantasies. If not, then they probably had the piece commissioned by someone who did. This principle is one of the things that really makes Macrophiles as a whole very similar to people who like MLP or Pokemon. In fact, many of us like those things too...just...you know...where every character is a giantess.

But in the end, we can still be classified as fans, even if we have an odd way of showing it.

First off love this picture and your other Ahri drawing. I haven't played LoL but Ahri is such a hot and cool character. As for the discussion you bright up I agree. It's all about fantasy and fandom

A proper celebrity GTS manipulation takes closer to 4 hours than 10 minutes if you're working from scrap, involving crush effects, and smoothing the images to blend naturally.

That's probably true. Then again, you're talking about high quality photo manipulations. And those are usually pretty good: unfortunately for every decent GTS photoshopping, there's atleast 50 that were just one guy posting a picture on top of another.

At least, from my experience that's what I've seen.

quite intersting thought and i real like your work here nice drawing but here something that bug me most of the time
celebrity getting photoshoped is a common thing and i do not like them and the copy paste effect they use are just bad for how i see it that ruin both the beaty of the charater and the meanting of having gts pic :/
on the other hand ficinal charaters like ahir gettinga lot of attening and man i real real love this charater and it have been mine reason to start looking and reading japance mythlogic and found quite a lot of interesting stuff on what she maybe got but that not the topic seening her as a gts just drive crazy your imagination and that is what you want and have all kind of weird imaginations xD
in drawing to step it everything as you want and can make even story base of the pic that will give reasons why she does that and how she got that and all this thing and maybe mine most favor exlanation/reason for gts to go evil or crazy or honry or whatever stuff they make them that it total out of lore and charater personallity is the new power that make them growth it overheilming there minds they get soo empower by it that make them a near total differn charaters and it is kinda logic and cool for mine thinking but i real real love when i see a more realistic reason so a gts pic why the normal reason is been scared and have fear on what is happening to you and if you will not hurt someone how you will keep on living since sleeping will be hard eating will be even harder and they will not be able to do anything that have done in the past that normal reason of fear give them a quite good charm for me
a other thing you have try to put them in group when the gts community got all kind of feteches that you will need a hell lot of group to start organazing them and not just 2 i think for the most of the part you are right and true but you go too over-simplifying things which you are losing quite a lot of thing and critical details for me

sorry for the bad english ad i wound like to hear your thinking

I think I understand what you're saying.

I am simplifying the motivation and concept behind this particular sub genre of GTS, but I do that mostly because my profiles are meant to be kinda short and to the point. Well, mostly.

Everybody's got a different reason for why they make the deviants they make. I'm just generalizing.

Now, of course, when someone does a famous character like Ahri as a giantess, it is interesting to find out how she became that way. But that is usually only explained in stories. People who just put her in a picture and throw her out often times don't give a good explanation. Or they may use the lore to justify the picture, such as how Lulu, another LoL champion, has a special ability called Wild Growth which temporarily enlarges another Allie. Not by much in the game, but you could take that to the extreme in a deviant and people wouldn't argue.

As for whether or not turning a real life celebrity into a giantess through photo manipulation is a bad thing is purely a judgment call. I for one liked them a lot when I was younger but I've kind of moved away from them.

So yeah, I'm over simplifying this genre, but the big reason I do these profiles is to sorta note the common themes I see in the GTS community. It's a bit of a satirical series, and I give my basic thesis on why people like these archetypes so much.

Hope that answers your question.

i wound call your post everything else then short xD
and you just combered 2 type of te gts commision that what i have find kind weird for me and i have go in detail and even on them you have not give a lot of info and yea ok i got it simplifying the thing so it is a basic knowgles plus a point of view on how the thing truthly are but still i think you wound go a bit more in details and i have find quite some artist that put a mini story on at least what the giga size charater thinking and going now and even some of them putting a quite littel story from how the started and how the ended
there are always writers in the community and the make quite some nice gts story about gaming or anime charater how and why
but yea in the most of the point you have been right but i still you still wound have gone a bit more on detail since you already have make a quite big post i do not think anyone wound mind it if it wound become a bit bigger since the one that will be interested will read it no matter how long it is and one that is not interesed will stop at the first line

whitestormclouds In reply to nikosgiginth [2015-11-01 02:06:45 +0000 UTC]

I feel like I should mention that this isn't the only GTS profile I do. I've done one on goddesses, aliens, amazons, princesses, and giga giantesses. This is a series, not a stand-alone.

And compared to some of the other stuff I write, year this is pretty short. I'm more of a writer than an artist so I tend to pack a short story to the top with words.

So this isn't really a "story" as much as an "analysis." And a satirical analysis at that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nikosgiginth In reply to whitestormclouds [2015-11-01 08:02:37 +0000 UTC]

yea i have seen them but i do no for this analysis i personaly wound like to go a bit deeper xD
zoom in more and seening more details or i am overthinking and over analysising thing again that shound be just a simple fethy for us to enought and not a blog diagram where you have to analysis every single of it categorys and explain what each unity is going xD

p.s. oh wow i have never think i wound use this term for a gts talk well at least i am putting some of the usefull i am studying for unusual stuff.......that something i guess  xD

Well, I mean for the most part this isn't an educated research project. These are just observations I've made as one individual. But you might get a different perspective from someone else who is a macrophile.

But if you've been around the GTS community long enough, you just tend to notice common themes and characters. So in these profiles I point them out and give a summary on why people like them and a general back story for each character. If more people wanted me to go further in depth, I probably would. But then again, there really isn't too much to say about the Celebrity giantess, mostly because it's pretty self explanatory.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nikosgiginth In reply to whitestormclouds [2015-11-02 06:16:27 +0000 UTC]

yea i know this is not a educating research project and maybe i am taking too realistic and too serious since i am going near to 16 hour of leason per week on research and desiging project in mine college xD
oh well i have learned from all of people that i sometimes muss let things as they are and not try to explain them like now xD

a other reason i "forced" this talking is that i real like to see what point of view and what option other people have on the same thing why everyone is looking everything from a differn point of view and most of the time i like to finding out what the see and crossover them whit mine and see what the result is xD

and about the gts celerity yea it is pretty self explanatory but only the non-ficional celerity are pretty self explanatory when you have start going in the game anime comics ect ect gts i feel like you wound start a entire new topic that you wound be able to say a lot more stuff to it and since i have say about anime there are quite some anime that use the fetchies of putting giant girl or having girls growth (and in 1-2 i have see riping cloths) so that add a lot more stuff that you wound go on but like i say i think that maybe be better for a profile xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

whitestormclouds In reply to nikosgiginth [2015-11-06 04:28:47 +0000 UTC]

Well I don't mind talking about this stuff. It's not a problem.

I understand that everybody has a different view. At the base line, macrophilia is of course a fetish, but everybody has a different orientation of what they like about it. Like you mentioned that you enjoy it when characters grow out of their clothes, which is a sub-genre. Other macrophiles may not like that but instead enjoy giantesses who have always been giantesses, or just perhaps grow with their clothes intact. I personally prefer to do that in my art, mostly because I don't do nudity in my pics, but I know a lot of other artists do.

Though it's because everybody's thoughts and ideas are different that it's interesting that I see a lot of reaccuring themes in the sub culture. Some people just tend to gravitate towards these ideas, which is what interests me. So that's what I've been looking into: archetypes that have I've just observed. And I'm sure there are more to come with the years. But these profiles are my effort to explain why they are so popular.

In the end, it probably doesn't matter. But hey: I enjoy doing it. It's sort of my gimmick, and I haven't seen anybody else do it so I've kinda stuck with it.

nikosgiginth In reply to whitestormclouds [2015-11-06 07:14:20 +0000 UTC]

for me a very good part to find out what there view point is why you know what is your view and i am quite interesed in seen other peoples view points too since sometime they can change mine view or give me ideas or thoughts i wound not come from alone ofc on da i have not post any stuff like that but maybe i will post something i had some a couple of months befor and see the outcome xD

the question is open why you like them so much and have start the profiles and why did you want to explain them to why most people like them i find it a quite good idea but the reason is surely not "i have seen no one going it and i have done it" xD

anyway about the nudity part yea i do not like it most of the time too but under some littel cases can be quite good and rip out of your cloth make it a bit more "realistic" for me

Well I had my Whitestormclouds account for a while and I had posted short stories.  But I decided that since I draw too, I might as well do some GTS pics as well. Thought it wasn't as easy as that: I hadn't drawn a lot of stuff that I'd want to show to other people based on it's poor quality. But with these pieces I really try to make something presentable to a public audience, which is why it takes me longer than a usual piece I do for practice.

I guess that if you have a piece you want to submit, there isn't much harm in submitting it. Even if people don't like it, you could always use it as a chance to improve. That's another big reason why I draw these pieces: so I can get practice and become a better artist.

I'm not a nudity artist either. My pieces may revolve around a fetish, but I still try to keep it PG to where even someone who isn't a macrophliac might like it and be able to favorite it. Besides, costumes can be just as fun to draw as the characters themselves. I've never tried doing costumes as they are ripping though: I might have to try that. Eventually.

I still haven't quite placed your nationality. I know that English probably isn't your first language, and I notice that in your grammar and because I think you told me earlier.  Are you from Germany?

but yea it takes me a couple of days to end one of mine art i have make that you can look at mine profile so i know how hard it can be xD
i have done 1 growth and 1 shrink but they do not look good so i have go for more normal stuff which have turn on better i guess xD
yea i don't meant that every artists that is making for fetch muss be making nudist even thou the rip cloth while growing is a quite good piece that most of the macrophliac love to see xD

and about the nationality i am a greek guy and mine english are that horrible since i have dyslexia and kinda messing up stuff xD

Well if you don't think that you're piece is good, then don't post it. Practice work you work until you feel like it's something you can publish.

At the same time, make sure that you're not lying to yourself. Sometimes what you think is good and what other people think is good may be different. Especially with art. Artists had a tendency to notice flaws in their work quicker than the viewers. It's a psychological thing. So don't keep a good piece just because you think that it's bad.

You might want to STa.Sh it and show a friend before you post it just to get clarification.

Ah, greek? Okay, that's cool. I wasn't sure: I'm not good with linguistics. It was only a guess. I've been to Greece though: it's a nice place. Very mountainous, though. Lots of open space.
