Description
Finally, I'm done with it.It took me many hours to complete, but it seems like it was worth it. I had to take the photo myself, so colors are a bit distorted.Oh well.
I made a huge mistake at the beginning, but used very opaque acrylic inks (Total Cover), so I was able to fix it.
It's painted on A3 canson mixed media paper

Thanks!! I hate to say it,but contrasting dark background not only made everything easier,but it also seems to make a lot of things better...I wouldn't like to get stuck doing this kind of stuff,though.Interestingly enough,the "daylight" version of the sleeping tree took a bit more time to complete...

Melia: "We don't want anything from you, oh great tree! Except... may be... just... 3 more crystals, please, to create more magic dust and grant the wishes of some playful humans!"
Great Tree: "And to..."
Chloe: "You... you don't really think we are going to breathe it in and get a magical high, do you?"
Great Tree: "This time I am not going to bail you out if you get in troubles with humans. Last time you turned the son of the human king into a changeling and the human king almost destroyed the forest! We are lucky I knew how to turn him back to normal!"
Chloe: "It's not going to happen this time dad, I swear! This time we will just mess up with humans which are not so importa-"
Melia: Β "SHUT UP CHLOE! Sheesh... I mean... Yeah, dad... I mean... we won't mess up with the humans at all!"

The fairies do look kind of meh when you take a closer look at them, but most art is meant to be looked at from a distance, isn't it?
And yes, while I might like the vibe or a theme of some of my other works better... Purely from a technical point of view this might be my best piece so far.
Most of the people who view it seem to pay attention to the tree the most,but,to me this artwork shows nicely that I'm finally starting to address some of the issues present in my art, like floating and disorganized lower sections in some of my landscapey works...

Yeah...grounded might be the Word I was looking for.
Darkening the lower section was a last minute decision that paid off nicely...it was also a good opportunity to put a certain range of pencils to test...
