Description This is a pic of Throttle of the series "Biker Mice Fom Mars", and MY fan-char, Whitewolf, who is his younger sister in my corner of the fandom, to say nothing of my VERY fertile imagination. Both are Freedom Fighters, as well as bikers, and addition to which, Wolf, as her family and friends call her, is ALSO one of Mars' few remaining trained Ninjas. (See my pic of her and her bike, "Wyldfyre", for a longer explanation of her history.)

Anyway, I'm soooooo sorry that it's been SOOOOO long between my uploads, but between RL driving me nuts on a regular basis (don't ask) and it's been taking me forever to do art lately, so it just couldn't be helped. I'm gonna do my best to try and make up for it, promise. I owe several of my buds out there pics, and I haven't forgotten you all, promise. I'm getting to them.

On the downside to this pic, I'm not real happy with the way that Throttle's right upper arm turned out, and Wolf's stance and legs could be better. But the truth is that THIS is as good as it's gonna get. It took me MONTHS to get it to this point, so I'm calling it finished.

(And yes, I AM aware that the date is in 2000. THAT should give you a clue as to how sandblasted SLOW that I can be sometimes!!!)

On the upside, I am VERY pleased at to how Wolf's sword, "Shadowstorm", and her other weapons came out. Although future pics of it MAY have different runic-type writing on the blade. I was more or less just trying to figure out how to write "Shadowstorm" in Martian-looking script. That sword and her sai and hunting knife are all a bit over 1,500 years older than SHE is!

Oh, and the line-art version of this pic is in my "Scraps" Gallery. I'd love to know what you all think of them both.

More art to come. Promise.

Oh, and as per usual, my standard warning:

Art thieves will be either eaten or incinerated/bar-b-qued by three highly-irate Moragg-Gi. Your choice. Just DON'T get sticky fingers, and you'll be safe.

Thankies. That means everything to me, Kazuya. I do try.

The only thing that I really DIDN'T like about Throttle's right arm is that I think I got it sort of "off", in the wrong position, or something. But maybe I'm wrong. If my buddies like it, it means I did good. LOL

The only OTHER thing that's bothering me is that I THINK I'm still off on the resolution thing. The pic, and it's lineart version (which is now in my "Scraps" section) just look a bit...oh, I don't know..."wavy" around the edges somehow. That or the pixels are off just a bit. Well, all I can say is that I'll keep trying. I've got OTHER stuff that I want up here, and by golly, it WILL be up here. LOL I just gotta figure out how to get everything working together. And I will, eventually. Like my fave Ninja Turtle, Raphael, I am nothing if not stubborn.

The only issue I see with the arm is the muscle shape - then again male bodies is what I draw Muscles = evil.

The line art version you've got up there is suffering from 'JPEG artifacts' - the little grany lumps everywhere. This is a side effect of saving as a low resolution JPG file - it sprays crap everywhere. A good way to get around it is to save as a higher resolution or higher quality JPEG, or another file format if you have the programs (TIFF is good if you have Photoshop, because it has none of the drawbacks of lower resolution file formats - GIF has limited colours and 'dithers' the colours to greate shades, and JPEG just sprays pixels everywhere. TIFF doesn't).

When you scan something in, try to get it above 72dpi. 72 dots per inch is screen resolution and is basically shit, for lack of a better word. 150dpi is basic printing resolution and looks clean. 96dpi is good for scanning in an image you want in high quality for onscreen viewing. 300dpi is ideal for printing from home printers But it makes uber-massive files. To avoid JPEG artifacts ruining your art...scan at 96dpi and keep the image quality fairly high if you can...DA can take files up to around 200kb if need be. Any higher is a pain for 56k users (and me, with my slow-ass DSL).

There...a random rant on file formats and resolutions It's hard without an advanced image program but it is possible. Wrestling the damn scanner's the hard bit, come to think of it XD

Oh, God, sys, THANK you!!! That is EXACTLY what I've been wanting to know! I don't currently have ANY version of PhotoShop (though I hope to scrape together the cash required to get PhotoShop Elements 2.0 soon. Hey, it's better than no PS at all, right?!),; all I have is something called "PhotoSuite Platinum that came with my comp.

I've only had my scanner since like May, and haven't experimented with it much. But, with the help of you and my OTHER buds around here, that's going to be rectified soon! Thankies again SOOOOO much for the heads-up on what I'm probably doing wrong!

Good luck with that scanner-wrestling. I hear those critters can bite your entire arm off with one snap! CRIKEY! [/steve irwin]

PS Elements should be good, it'll have the necessary basics. It just won't have all the fancy filters - which aren't necessary anyway

Once you get a hang of all the mad insane technobabble you'll be able to get high quality modem-friendly scans up in no time... Twah!

LOL You nut. That's a pretty good Steve Irwin, btw.

That's good to know about Elements. I'm just interested in mastering the basics, anyway. And you're right; I don't. LOL I couldn't afford to pay like 500 or so bucks for PS 7.0 or whatever, anyway. Heck, my mom would have me committed if I did! j/k

And I hope so. I just want my pics to basically look good, and for folks to like them. If nothing else, maybe I can get my computer techno-geek sis to help me out here and there. She's no Donatello, but she knows stuff that I don't.
