Description
‘Thank you for sick little brothers.’Sarah had been loathing Thanksgiving at her aunt’s. So much so she would rather endure twelve straight hours of finals. The elderly women in the family saw it their duty to remind her every year that she (cough her ovaries cough) was not getting younger.
Toby getting sick was the best thing that could happen.
“I’ll stay home with him,” Sarah volunteered instantly when Karen stood worrying in the kitchen with the thermometer in her hand.
“You sure? You just got home from college.” Karen questioned while she fussed over Toby like a mother hen.
“I’m sure. We’ll just eat soup and drink cider while we watch the parade and the dog show.” Sarah said and brought Karen’s coat over. “Go, we’ll be fine.”
The responsible response convinced Karen and the moment the house was void of parents, Sarah turned and found five sets of eyes looking at her. One set were human, four were goblin.
“Grab a soda and crash on the couch.” Sarah instructed as she crossed the kitchen to dig in the freezer.
“Pizza party?” a tiny squeak from one goblin asked hopefully.
Sarah grinned and pulled the neat stack of pizzas out. “Pizza party,” she confirmed.
An hour later and half a pizza in, Sarah was curled up on one end of the couch watching the last bit of the parade half-heartedly. No one was really watching it. Toby and the goblins were devouring the food and animatedly talking.
“Queenie,” a goblin caught her attention. “Will Kingy come?”
Sarah blinked, faintly remembering the promise Jareth made her take when she was packing her suitcase two nights ago. She knew nothing bad could happen, the fae however was beyond worried about the weather and made her promise that she’d let him know when she got home.
She jumped up from the couch and dashed to the kitchen when the buzzer went off.
“Jareth,” Sarah said as she was setting the pizza down. The ether opened up and an angry fae stepped out.
Jareth stood on the other side of the kitchen island with his arms crossed over his chest. “Sarah-”
“I forgot,” Sarah cut in and used her magic to cool the pizza down enough so she can cut it. “It was late when I got off the plane and all I wanted to do was sleep.”
The anger on Jareth’s face melted and he plucked the pizza cutter from her fingers. “Sit, I’ll finish up here.” He said then added, “Save me a seat, precious.”
Sarah nodded and brought the second round of sodas with her. Toby and the goblins were jumping with excitement as Santa came on screen. A minute later they were mum and were glued to the tv once more as the dog show started.
Jareth came in with the pizza and deposited it on the coffee table before taking a seat next to Sarah, pulling her half on his lap.
It was only when Jareth gave Toby a wink that Sarah realized the two males in her life planned this.
And she didn’t mind one bit.

Aw this is adorable. I sorta have an aunt like this. She is convinced that my younger sister will want kids someday. She doesn't mind them, but she would rather have cats instead.

My aunt isn't as bad but her nagging did inspire the mention. *bows* Glad to hear you found it adorable.
