Description
Another image inspired by a recent short story of mine, "Lemonade for Pinky." It's a touching tale of a fallen glam rock star, Pinky Dandy, his pet emu, Iggy, and the mayhem that ensues after Pinky's only hit single, "I'll Be Your Woman, Mr. Bowie," loses its popularity and Pinky is forced to have his obnoxious, castle-style mansion moved from London to a quiet suburban neighborhood in America. Other characters include Poppy Snubbs, his nosy shrew of a neighbor that does not appreciate Iggy eating her landscaping rocks, Queeny, her blind and senile pug, and the neighbors, who curse the day the moving trucks came. I am currently adapting the original story into a children's book for another class, one that rhymes and has fewer deaths. However, I'd say both versions work out alright in the end and teach us to accept people, even if they are pink-haired, melodramatic sparkle princesses.
