Horse's Name/Ref: HTS KamikazeAge: 2
Class: Best Pal Stakes
Show: The J.C. Monthly Show
Story:
"So you ready for this?", Rohan chided the cocky jockey. Ruan just snorted. "What do you expect they give me a maiden horse... I like winners", he replied. Kamikaze squealed in her stall as if response to the insult. The filly was aggitated at best. "You know these horses run well", Rohan said. "Mmm.. They run alright. Not like they win everything they enter. Placing consistently at least.", Ruan finished. He huffed and walked out to the stands to watch the races. His filly was in one of the later races of the day. The filly he had to ride was also ominously named. Kamikaze. Who names a horse that. But at least it had a ring to it of slight drama. He wondered what the filly had done to get that name. He watched as the weather would grow overcast and then sun would appear again for brief but bright moments as the clouds shifted. He really hoped it wouldn't rain. That was the last thing he wanted. A couple races prior to his he made his way to the changing rooms and quickly threw on his silks and grabbed his saddle to go check in with the valet and be weighed. Meanwhile, Rohan was grooming Kamikaze. The filly was moody and shifted restlessly. Much unlike her. Then again. This was her first race. Picking up her hooves and shining them one last time, Rohan led the agitated filly out to the saddling arena. Rohan met up with Ruan as they looked over the other entrants. The annoucer was calling out the horses odds when suddenly he yelped. "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT", horses suddenly shied and reared as something came from the sky. Kamikaze leaped and bucked as something hit her on the rump. "Great", muttered Rohan under his breath as the filly leaped and pushed him over. Ruan was left to grab the filly as she bucked wildly. "I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT... IT'S RAINING MEATBALLS!", the announcer cried into the mic. Horses were being pulled back into the safety of the barns and the crowd either tried to catch the meatballs or ran into the stands. "This is just weird...", Ruan mumbled as Rohan walked the filly to calm her down for the race. Awaiting the stop of the meatballs, the announcer started spewing off random jokes and facts about horses with meat or food related names. At least the delay allowed the horses to calm down. Some looked curiously out from under the barns and sniffed at some of the balls near their feet. Finally, after a good 30 minutes delay so that the track could be cleaned, the announcer called for the races to continue. The excited young horses were led into the gate to start, what was for many, their first stakes race. Some of the young horses reared and shied from the gate and others walked in with little urging, preferring shelter if the strange things fell from the sky again. Ruan shifted his position on Kamikaze's back ready for the bell to clang as the filly danced in place. The bell rang as she did a flying leap out of the gate to start the race.
