The copper elbows and wooden dowel are ingenious. I was going to try heating and bending pvc pipe but I think this may be easier. Also, how thick is your shield with and without the raised details?

Sorry I took so long to reply. The finished shield is approximately 1.75" thick at the center (w/o the raised details), and where the triforce and scrollwork are its about 2.25". None of these measurements include the handle, which extends from the back about 2.25".

Awesome tutorial, I've been thinking of doing something similar with a prop I've carved a buck out of in insulation foam. The foil duct tape is a really good idea, but is it really wise not to wear a respirator with fiberglass resin?

The Material Safety advisory for working with polyester resin is to work in a well-ventilated space. Sanding and cutting fiberglass definitely requires a dust mask, however, to avoid breathing the fine glass particles.

I see. I've always used a respirator, but that's good to know. I've kinda just followed a when in doubt, use the respirator rule.

If you're someone who is more sensitive to smells in general, that's probably a very good idea. I happen to be blessed with a poor sense of smell.

It's not so much the smell as a bit of carcinogen paranoia. XD

I did a bit more research and concluded that vapor exposure would be a concern for industrial spray operations, where resin coverage is over a large surface area. I've always felt comfortable just working in fresh air, since I only ever mix up a few ounces at a time and don't do spray application. But hey, if you've got the respirator, no harm in using it!

Yeah, It doesn't hurt to use it most of the time. It's not fun though, living in Texas, summers don't mix well with respirators.

Hope you don't mind if i take one or two advices from this tutorial for my own project. ^^"
Currently working on the "frame" for the front/backside, yet i just can't decide what material to use.

Don't mind at all, that's why I put it out here. I never really emphasized this in the tutorial, but the main reason I like to use the interfacing is that you can easily cut out complicated shapes with just scissors.
