By 9 ABY the New Republic had pushed into the Northern Core. With the situation gradually stabilizing and the influx of large manufacturing and training facilities - such as the famed academies on Anaxes and Carida - as well as the capture of millions of tonnes of Imperial equipment, the New Republic began to standardize it's central military forces, largely composed of the old Alliance Veterans bolstered by countless volunteer forces from Planetary Defense Forces. With the war winding down after the surrender of the Child-Emperor on Coruscant the New Republic finally found the breathing room to reform and re-equip it's central military forces.

The classical Alliance wide-guard helmet was slimmed down and packed with new sensor equipment, while lightened arm, shoulder, chest, and knee armor was adapted from reserve Stormtrooper gear (The materiel of which was changed to the more expensive but better protective Duraplast) Weapons were also standardized, the famous A280 Blaster Rifle was maintained as the standard, alongside a Merr-Sonn Munitions Plasma Grenade and combat knife. Parts of the shoulder, arm, and knees were also protected by Synthmesh layers between the armor and clothing.

The new uniform underneath the armor consisted of a Brissmoss-Fiber tunic and trousers, a light and breathable materiel that could keep the wearer relatively cool in most environments, though was near-useless in freezing temperatures. Until 15 ABY the New Republic continued to use the Hoth-Issued gear from the Galactic Civil War under the armor, when deploying in colder environments.
