Description
The Cape Batis, Batis capensis, is one of the largest of a group of small to tiny birds, the batises. They occur only in Africa, mostly in forest, woodland and scrub. This species lives in evergreen forests and also in thickets. The male is shown here ... the female has a rufous rather than black breast band, and also a rufous patch on her throat. Batises eat insects, which they catch by cleaning leaves or catching critters on the wing. Acrylic.Related content

Cute little big-headed bird. Love the proportions. I have never seen a batis or wattle-eye but the shape reminds me of a tody or tinkerbird, except passerine.
