Description
With the immense coastline of Cladonia the need for a near constant patrol in order to ward off pirate incursions led to a curious design.
That same design was approved due to the foresight that, in the event of war, the need for a warning of impending enemy action and a provision for a long range reconnaissance and fall of shot ability would be invaluable in a fleet action.
The renamed B-class scout frigates are A class hulls, gutted above the machinery spaces and with the exhausts retrunked to starboard. There, the shortened funnel was given a twin to better provide ventilation and accompanied by the relocated bridge onto a sponsoon.
With all armament removed except for 4 twin 40mm anti-air cannons and added superstructure the new "aerocraft carrier" was able to accommodate two Zephyr fighter/reconnaissance planes in a knocked down form without wings attached, one for use and one as a replacement. These were lifted to a flat flight deck and assembled topside to be launched off the bow while the ship steamed at high speed. Fleet exercises have deemed that, while these ships are adequate for scouting, a larger and "more proper naval based aeroforce base" *Adl. Charles Lamont*, is what is necessary to bring the Aeroplane into naval matters.
All stats except armament are identical to the A-class frigates.
