Description
The Basilisk class were refitted in the mid 1910's to bring them up to world standards. Equipped with a new state of the art fire control system in place of a searchlight on the fore mast and an enclosed armored bridge, they were able to hit targets with increased firepower from farther and more accurately than any other ships heretofore built. A new clipper bow and new machinery increased speed by 4 knots and they were re-armored to give better resistance against the heavier guns on the latest battlewagons. To bring their guns up to par they were given new titanium alloy barrels which could handle more powerful charges for longer range and a higher velocity, in tests making them equivalent to 15" cannons. The new speed and increased firepower makes them a match for the new Panther class battlecruisers and has caused considerable concern in allied navies.Statistics:
