Description
Get a load of this signal! I wanted to show and tell about this one. So as I was talking about in this deviation willm3luvtrains.deviantart.com… , this signal has 12x20 lights on one side but 12x24 lights on the other! This is one of the gate-less median signals on 6th Street and 9th Avenue but for westbound 6th Street. This signal is interesting and yet very silly and I don't mean "Ha-ha" silly, well he might be to you, but he looks excentric!
This signal became like this in late 2009. Before he was just a 12x20 signal with forward-facing only light and I believe the lights were Safetran housings but they were definitely incandescent up til late 2009. And as I mentioned, the junction box that goes in between the lights was probably moved from the front of the signal to the right side. And I think he was given a new mast (pole) it looks shinier than the mast that was there before so this must be a new mast for the signal.
These are some pictures of the signal back when it only had 12x20 forward facing incandescent lights (not my pictures)

I believe these are the same 12x20 lights that were there before, but one of them went from being a forward-facing light to a rear-facing light. The 12x20 lights have Safetran housings. The 12x24 lights are Western Cullen Hayes (W.C.H.) and all four lights on this signal have 1st-Generation W.C.H. red lens L.E.D.s. In addition, this signal didn't used to have a double-sided crossbuck or a 2 Tracks sign.
Although I kind of appreciate the 20" backgrounds remaining in place, I'd have rather had this be an all-12x24 signal than have it look the way it looks. I don't like signals with mismatched light sizes or mismatched background sizes or mismatched light-types. Like Mike Hickok, I prefer all lights were the same, although I prefer all lights on one signal were the same, although this signal on 7th Avenue doesn't really bug me willm3luvtrains.deviantart.com… .
I'd like to know, what's your opinion about this signal? Do you like it or do you wish this signal was different like I do? How would you have made this signal?

Yeah, it is! It was weird before it got upgraded to these new signals! (Click to see the signals that were there before,www.rxrsignals.com/Arizona/Tuc… ) especially the one with forward-facing lights only and the gate! Mike Hickok, the original website runner called it an "ugly signal" www.rxrsignals.net/Arizona/Tuc… I didn't like the signal either. The only thing I liked about it other than it being a right-hand signal was it's bell which was a General Signals type 1 electronic.
I guess this crossing will always be weird as long as it's existing!
