Description My first double ACEO, which is to mean the size of two art cards (which can be stacked any way you want). It seems to be a popular format on dA. But these two cards are unsliced.

and I did a portrayal of Severus Snape for one another. I'm afraid mine was not a very creative one, as the usual depiction is Snape in a potions lab. But how could I resist a chance at potions, draughts, and cauldrons? I'm so horrible at people, but why do I always end up doing cards with people in them?!

Détails sur la scène: I chose to draw a young Severus Snape because a) he's not often depicted and b) he's often depicted as very pathetic and bitter. So I wanted to give my take.

His home life is one of squalor and abuse at Spinner's End, and Hogwarts is the first chance he gets to spend a prolonged period outside of that. So I do believe that Hogwarts must've been the best time of his life (at least before the James Potter bullying starts). And I think he must've looked his healthiest then while maintaining that sallow hue ;D.

I'm not quite sure if he consciously discovers that he has a proficiency at potions right away, but he does realize that there are better methods than what's in the textbook and soon found himself spending his free time in the potions lab. I'm sure he spent many a night perfecting his technique and taking extensive notes. *sigh* Snape, you should've written a potions text.

Now, the hair... yes, adult Snape is described as having curtains of oily hair, but young Severus is described as having oily "hair that jumped about his face." I'm not quite sure what that means but this is how mine turned out .

Oh! And what do you imagine Snape's magical pet was? For some reason, I imagine toad.... Any thoughts, anyone?

It appears that James's and Sirius's hostility toward Snape began on the Hogwarts Express, for no better reason than that he wanted to be in Slytherin House, so I expect the so-called "pranking" started early. I think Severus expected to enjoy Hogwarts, but rarely did.

The Snapes are probably too poor to buy and care for a magical pet. If anything, I think Sev would have a stray cat that he fed in secret but did not take to Hogwarts. His enemies (including but not restricted to the Marauders) would probably harm his pet to get at him, so his stray would be safer at home.

I've shared my thoughts with you already, but two more things: 1) I think you actually did well with the hair and it turned out quite good but still it looks curly .. I suppose, over the course of life hair can change its state though; 2) I'm not sure about the pet.. can you imagine him taking care of a living soul? Toad is a very probable variant, can it also be a snake or a bat (I know in the book there was no mention of such pets, I'm just guessing).

You're right about the hair. For some people hair texture does change. My sister's hair used to be straight when she was little but for some reason, as an adult her hair's got kind of curly .

I agree with you. I can't imagine him having a pet either. But it seems to me most students have some kind of magical creature. On Pottermore you're only allowed cat, owl, or toad so I thought out of those three the only likely one I could see was toad, .
