Doesn't really seem simple. It looks like an overworld animation where you walk up to it... the screen turns black... it fades back in... the tree is 20x bigger and you're now playing a Turn Based RPG that's semi Super Mario RPG/Oldschool Final Fantasy/Old School Phantasy Star(or PSO Episode III) kinda gameplay.
