no theres no ups and downs here like you said its a doodle, for me a doodle is like laying out a blueprint for your next ideas your trying on your new equipment thats how i see it just keep it up you two are developing real fast, it wont be long till you discover your own style or atleast find a style that your at home with....

a doodle is a good way to see ones mistakes. the obvious can make themselves known!
But I don't see a reason to worry, it is just a doodle, but it is very nice as a sort of sketch. the overall shape and form are soft and subtle. Its simple so you don't have to worry about complexities.
