Description
A few weeks ago, while at work, I got this urge to watch Beetlejuice again. I have bought the 20th Anniversary DVD of Beetlejuice(the Tim Burton movie) a few months ago and then felt like watching it and relive it once more. When I put in the DVD, I decided to look at the special Features and noticed with great pleasure that there were episodes from the TV show I used to watch as a kid. There were only three episodes but still, a lot of DVD's have no special features whatsoever. I also think that advertisements shouldn't really be labeled as "special features". They can be entertaining once in awhile but, they're not that special... Sometimes I feel like they're just thrown in there so that people won't complain about the lack of special features... Okay, include them but, please... include more as well. And not just 20 minute videos that revolve around the main cast repeating the same things 5 times, haha
Okay, I'm done complaining about DVD features in general. It was fun reliving those Beetlejuice cartoons, both the good and bad parts of it. As an older person than I was back then and also as a trained animator, I also looked past my nostalgia a bit and realized how the animators could hardly keep the characters on model and wondering what the actual models looked like...
So, I felt like drawing a couple of the characters but not entirely as they appeared, I tried to throw in a little of my own style in there as well.
The page on the right represents characters from the movie The Illusionist... For some reason, I decided to draw one of the actors without the beard he wore in the movie.
Enjoy,
~Guy H.L.
The "Monster Across The Street", Ginger the "tap-dancing" spider, Jacques LaLean, Lydia Deetz and Beetlejuice do not belong to me. They were part of the cartoon show Beetlejuice, loosely based on the Tim Burton directed movie.
Same goes for the characters in the movie, The Illusionist.
These sketches are mine.

You're welcome, Tim Burton is one of my all time favourite directors next to John Landis and David Cronenberg.

i like your beetlejuice drawing and also i like the other beetlejuice characters you drew as well. nicely done. i like how you drew the eyes on Ginger and Lydia. so cute looking. I my self like to draw the same style of eyes on my animal cartoon characters. and that is cute looking as well. and also if you want, if you miss watching the beetlejuice cartoons. i am writing letters to the animation company that made the beetlejuice cartoons. and i'm asking them if they would ever think about putting the beetlejuice cartoons on DVD. so if you want to you could write to the animation company as well. my animation teacher told me that the more voices and letters fans write the more chance we have for some one to hear and listen to us. then only one beetlejuice fan writing a letter. so if you would like to help, the mailing address is
Nelvana Limited

but that's if you want to help, you don't have too.

Hi Kelley, thanks for the compliments.
And thanks for Nelvana's mailing address as well. Another friend of mine sent me a link to a Beetlejuice petition to get the show back on TV... I don't know which studio would do it but they claim that they just want enough signatures for support so they could start working on it.
I loved that show, I just hope they would do a great job if they ever did a new Beetlejuice show.

you're welcome for the compliments and also the Nelvana's mailing address. and also I loved the beetlejuice show as well. I miss watching that show. It was such a funny show. My animation teacher has a guess on why the show went off the air and that is because of money. making animated cartoons cost a lot of money especially if the cartoon show is not made in the U.S. like beetlejuice. the cartoon of Beetlejuice was made in Canada. I wish that the animation company that made beetlejuice can put the cartoon show on DVD for beetlejuice fans to buy. another animation teacher of mine told me that if you find the company that owns the political licence of the beetlejuice cartoons, then they would have the right whether or not to put the cartoons on DVD. My teacher did tell me that Warner Bros. owns the political licence to the beetlejuice movie but he doesn't know if they own the cartoon as well. and if the animation company that made the beetlejuice cartoons, ever wanted to bring the show back. then that would be so cool and sweet. and if they ever needed ideas for new stories they could ask us beetlejuice fans for help. we beetlejuice fans have lots of different and funny stories to tell. like beetlejuice getting married and having his own family. that would be kind of different. beetlejuice being a husband and a dad.

I thought you Beej looked vaguely like The Critic...
*looks at your sig*
...and now I know why.
Nice drawings.
PS: I can put you in touch with a man. A man who can help you. A man named El Kabong.

Hehehe Funnily enough, as I was watching the cartoons, I was thinking that the character design was similar to The Critic... And I noticed the similarity in the drawing myself.
Thanks
And who is El Kabong? Was that part of The Critic?

El Kabong was basically Franklin Sherman-- dressed up in a Zorro-esque costume-- bashing people over the head with an acoustic guitar while going "Kabong!".

Ah yes, now I remember. Hahaha I had forgotten about that. That crazy Franklin, I love that character, remember when he was driving on the highway and was imagining seeing video game characters like Donkey Kong throwing things(like barrels) at him?

haha Of course, one of my favourite moments was the plane crashing... "A penguin? And he's been drinking! Wait a minute... Penguins can't fly! Penguins can't fly!!!" and then the plane starts going down as soon as he realizes this.
hehehe I also have the show on DVD.

Apparently, it's a parody of an old 1937 movie called 'Lost Horizon' where a plane crash takes a group of people to some mysterious place called Shangri-La.
Never seen it myself, but the Opus Christmas Special 'A Wish For Wings That Work' used some footage from it, I think.
