I was inspired by two Rhodesian Ridgeback pieces of art I've seen in the past week.
*glomps Scatch*Ridgebacks are known as the 'lion' dog, because they were used to hunt lions in Africa. They're my favorite species of dog. One of the main characters in my favorite book, A Story Like the Wind, is a Ridgeback -- his name's Hintza.
One of the most obvious features of the Ridgeback is the 'ridge' of fur along the top of their back.
I did a puppy version of this guy, too, but I didn't color it yet.

My fiancΓ©s mom have a ridgeback... and I most say that I actually really really hate it. It's probably the most awfull dog in the entire world cause he is everything that a ridgback are not supposed to be. She did wrong when he was a puppy and now it's to late for him to learn something... he can't even the command "sit". Hes laying here right next to me now and licking hes paws till they bleed, someone have to watch over him or else he will trash the whole house in 10 mins and eat everything that comes to close to his mouth... yea... awfull dog. Hope that other ridgeback owners sucess with their dogs cause I know that they are lovely creatures, just sad that this one ain't that dog from my dream

lol i have one! she's 90 lbs. and named Jazmine. But we have dubbed her Jaz the Spaz because of her hyperness... she's full grown, but still a puppy.

I love that king of dog-dog! Their fur ridge is so cute! This guy's fur looks a bit long at the elbow type joint though

There is another ridge-backed breed, the Thai Ridgeback, in which the ridge is different shapes: A ridge formed in a banjo shape; a broad, leaf-like stripe, and a ridge like a narrow, straight line. Also, the breed's ears stand erect, instead of hanging down, like the Rhodesian's, and they are colored a steel-grey.^.^
