Description This is a piece I did awhile ago for a show. It's mostly watercolor, but there is some gauche and pen and ink as well as some pencil work. I can't photograph anything so alas, the picture I'm posting looks a little off from the original.

This is wonderfully morbid and beautifully drawn. What I think I like best are the little numerals and descriptions of the bones. Stunning!

Congrats on the unknown artists feature as well; you totally deserve it.

This is a beautiful piece that combines the art of anatomy with literal anatomy. The traditional use of media makes the piece more brilliant as well. I hope you recieved lots of praise for it wherever the show was.

the-end-of-history [2007-08-16 02:04:44 +0000 UTC]

The lacing and filigree around the neck and the way it seems to merge with the skeletal rendering is rather nice, though undeveloped. It would be interesting to expand the picture plane a bit to encompass a bit more of the person's body (excluding the head) and have perhaps more that one particular device by which the roles of exterior covering (clothing) and interior anatomical structure were blended or questioned. It has a certain stylistic quality very similar to the collage works of Max Ernst which could be pushed further by introducing more drawn elements, i.e., veins, musculature, text defining anatomical names or internal organs. Extending the hand holding the skull beyond the borders of the picture plane seems to be rather irrelevant to the rest of the composition, especially when the edge is rather loosely defined in watercolor.

This is the very very first piece in a series I'm working on for an independent study. It's still something that I'm exploring and so this idea really hasn't come to any kind of pinnacle or completion.
The hand that breaks the third wall and the watercolor border is much more defined in the original, I'm a terrible photographer; I have to disagree with you on that note, it's one of my favorite parts of this piece.
It's funny that you mention Max Ernst, I had a copy of "Une Semaine De Bonte" beside me while I was painting this.

Gorgeously professional, with just the right combinations of colours in certain areas to pull off a surrealistic and realistic effect all at once.

The concept itself is magnificent; you have real talent, Dear.
