tbh he went a long way before he reached this point. first I was planning on turning my former Braviary gijinka oc into a trainer with a Braviary instead, then I just decided to change his design completely and keep the Braviary, but finally I was like fuck it and made him an entire separate character lmaoo

Backstory

Anders Valenti was not born into the most remarkable life. He grew up in the small but historic Solaceon Town in the Sinnoh region to a relatively well off upper middle class family. His mother worked at the local Pokemon daycare, while his father worked as a manager in nearby Hearthome City's hotel and also aided in the conservation of the Solaceon Ruins. Being the second of three kids and thus the middle child, right from the start it seemed he was always looked over. It always appeared that Anders, while not being particularly bad at most things, he wasn't the most outstanding individual either, more... mediocre than anything else. Such as for example his performance at school where he didn't succeed with flying colors in his classes, but didn't fail at any either. He just didn't seem to be outstandingly talented at anything, and he knew it, much to his despair.

One thing that always managed to lift his spirits however were Pokemon. He found that they always seemed to have a knack for bringing people who are down in the dumps right back up. This is why as often as he could Anders would accompany his mother over to the Pokemon daycare to help her in any way that he could. Eventually he became quite close with the Pokemon there in fact. He learned how to take care of them, their various likes and dislikes, and so on, and at least in that one small place, he managed to make himself recognizable, even if it was just with the Pokemon and fellow staff.

Wanting to make a name for himself out there in the world, as soon as he was allowed to Anders left his small town at the age of 14. By his side was his long cherished friend and partner, a Buneary named Bonbon whom he had befriended back when he was just a small boy and had stuck with him ever since.

Perhaps it was fate or just sheer luck that his first Pokemon was one, but soon enough Anders began to feel a connection with Pokemon of the normal type. He wasn't sure what it was. Maybe it was simply due to his small loyal Buneary, but he felt like he could relate to them in a unique sort of way. It was well known to him that normal types weren't really the most preferred type of Pokemon to have and raise. While they weren't necessarily bad or weak compared to for example most bug types, there usually weren't very many distinguishable or desirable traits among them. While they were only weak to one type and sure they couldn't be hit by ghost types, their moves were not strong against any other type and were in fact not very effective against a couple. Because of their seemingly mediocre reputation Anders easily related to them due to his own feelings of being simply mediocre as well. Thus, he decided to specialize in normal types, hoping that through him working together with Pokemon of that type they could both start to gain a reputation that was hopefully above mediocre.

Currently, Anders has taken on the leagues of both Sinnoh and Kanto and is currently traveling through the Johto region. In it he has caught numerous Pokemon including his new partner, Almond the Sentret. He has been faring quite well in the region and its league challenge, although he seems to have developed quite a liking to competing in the Pokeathelon's various competitions.

Personality

Despite Anders' calm upbringing and background, this young man seems to be anything but. He seems to be quite the bundle of energy, to say the least, and as a result can never seem to be able to sit still for too long. Perhaps this could explain why he seems to be so successful in Johto's Pokeathelon tournaments. Luckily for him most of his Pokemon seem to be the same as well, especially his Lopunny and Sentret who share just about the same amount of energy in everything.

Anders is quite the jokester as well. He has quite an enthusiastic sense of humor to match just about everything else there is to him, and as a result he loves to frequently joke around with his friends and family. Fortunately for everyone however, it's never the type of humor that makes fun of or is at the expense of others. However, Anders does seem to suffer from a lack of self esteem, even if he tries his best to keep such a fault hidden. He's not very confident in himself at times and always has that nagging voice in the back of his head that makes him fear he'll never be good enough and just stay mediocre like he was so used to being his entire life. He does try to work past this, knowing that he's trying his absolute best to make his name known along with his trusted Pokemon whom they themselves frequently try to uplift if they notice that he's feeling particularly gloomy. Overall Anders seems to have a persistent happy go lucky attitude on most occasions, even if it is not 100% genuine due to his previously mentioned insecurities, in the hopes that he will uplift those around him.

One thing most people should note about this young man is that he can be quite the glutton. Sure he may not look like it, but that is due to his relatively high metabolism. Anders loves just about any type of food, except for meat due to his enormous love of Pokemon, be it fruits, vegetables, or the like. Most of all however, he has an absolute infatuation with chocolate. This is quite obviously the reason as to why he named all of his Pokemon after that specific dessert after all, and much to his delight his Pokemon themselves seem to enjoy the treat as well. He loves bonding with them over chocolate, and will take any chance he gets to take them to candy and pastry shops to buy all of them the flavorful treat. While it is usually to the detriment of his wallet, he doesn't seem to take too much heed due to the bonding time he gets with his Pokemon being reward enough to him for a few luxuries less.
