Description
2nd year final projecthave to design a house/bookstore building, bookstore is on the bottom floor, house on the top floor.
dimensions are pretty strict here, its a long strip of land thats around 15m by 40+m, and height limit cannot exeed 10 meters (3 floors)
the concept behind this design, as you can see from the top floor, a seperation between private/public space (light vs dark) the kitchen/living room/dinning room/hallways are considred by me as a more public space, thus there were no walls at all in seperating their space, instead, i use placement of objects (such as countertops, stairs, floor heights to distinquish the space), a large balcony windows and sun-roofs allows maxium light penetration. the bedrooms are considered private space, thus they are seperated by walls.
on the botom floor lies the bookstore, its kind of hard to see from the picture, i might provide floor plans and sections later. the bookstore is designed to direct flow between the aisles, the dynamtically placed circular book shelves are placed in such a formation that "stretche" and "squeeze" space, thus directing "traffic flow". anyways, its hard to explain without anything to look at, i will show floor plans after its been scanned as it is very big.

hey, guess what... i finally checked my DA...
wow yeah i totally forgot about the drawings ive done for this, it must be lying around somewhere....
to answer ur question, the little counter things on the bottom floor are book shelves, and if u find that strange, yes u are right, it is rather strange, books probably wont fit nicely on round/slanted shelves(was just me trying something new), and to be honest, i dont really like that idea anymore - however was rather interesting at the time tho..... i dont think my prof liked that idea much either

heya! thanks for the comment
actually, i got a B, but im happy with the mark since there were many great projects from others as well, and the professors are extremely picky. getting an A pretty much means the design is near flawless and to do that from a 2nd year student is well... i have to admit, is not an easy task.
