I don't know why, but my scanner have the options, PDF, JPG, and TIFF, but it won't let me click TIFF. The only option I have is to still use the JPG. Please help. Β And thanks in advance.

Thanks for this. It's such a nice tutorial that I'm actually a tad angry that it won't help. I went looking specifically because my R02/04 and my BV series markers always looked flat or grey. Oh well. Now at least I know that it's not my own incompetence.Β

Hello!
My problem is that I usually do black and white drawings with shadows in pencil. The shadows simply disappear when I scan.
Do you have any tips?
Thank you! : meow:

...I favorited this last night so I could use it, and I just now realized that my Photoshop doesn't have the "Adjustments" menu or the "Curves" option. Is there an alternative option to use (like Levels) that might have a similar effect?

That doesn't seem to open anything, but thanks for the info! I'll keep trying shortcuts. I press so many keys by accident that I'll probably happen to come across it at some point.

Tested this tutorial today and it helped a lot, but my scanner hates golden-yellow-orange.
Have to practice a little more.
Thank you for this tutorial

Wait... Now whats the difference between tiff and jpg?
If I open a pic in photoshop, then will the colours be automatically "uncompressed" and the already bad colour codes with jpg will get even worse... or what? And thats why I should use tiff?

My scaner is very snooty about colour green, while the rest of the colours are pretty decent. Any advice on that, or shall I bring the exhibit A for further study?

Awesome tutorial! Although majority of the stuff I submit is lineart and really easy to edit, these are really good tips! I'll have to try out the dodge and burn tools, too. Once I decided to forbid them from my drawing, I guess I forgot all about them. lol Congrats on the DD.

with PNG being an accepted medium for DeviantART, JPG should be killed and buried in the back yard.

There's a free editing program called GIMP that features all the tools used in this tutorial. And the best part is, it's completely legal!
Here's the official website: [link]
