Description
Carcharadons : My shark people, size, coloration and sexual dimorphisms. They are a species that does not usually have a social organization larger than a family group, though in some cases that can be expanded to a clan or tribe. Generally only the top ranked male and female mate, though in the larger groups, there are often multiple pairs of dominant males and females.
They do not have many patternings and skin colorations, usually varying tones of what has been displayed, lighter and darker depending on the region in which they live.
The very largest can be up to 17 feet long, but most are between 12 to 10 feet in length, and shorter than a man when standing.
Many groups stain their skin with natural inks or extract from the galls of animals, or else make raised incisions upon their skin. Some also decorate by forcing bones through their flesh in something of a surface piercing.
They are a carnivorous lot, and will eat just about anything they come upon, working in packs to herd small prey, and capture larger prey.
Meetings between groups are generally violent, as they are territorial, and dislike those who encroach.
They have a primitive religion with idols and rock-paintings.
Still, they are hardly a cruel, unfeeling, or savage people, as they are a cohesive family unit which cares for its injured and old, and its young, much like humans and their extinct relatives, the Neanderthals.
They do have some technology, including the use of skin tents to protect them from the elements, usually made of somewhat salted skins of the animals they hunt, but none of them, even in the coldest places, wear clothing, instead packing on large amounts of fat into their tissues. I
n some areas, they hunt using heavy spears to wound prey from a distance, but most of the time, they hunt prey like a pack of wolves, and dispatch it by tearing large chunks of flesh out with their teeth and powerful jaws.
They have a developed language of both low and high-pitched sounds, clicks and whistles, and have distinct cultures within their species, usually related to regions, with different religious systems, gods and goddesses, and different methods of self-decoration, housing and weaponry.

Shark people--I love this. You've really got a talent for the anatomy of realistic animal-based fantasy creatures; it's inspiring.

Yeah, once school and then work get hold of you, it's tough to find free time for creativity. I know the feeling.

Haha, well, I couldn't say that it was a difference. Both sexes fight from time to time. They're a somewhat violent society.
Yeah, thanks. I like it too, though it's a recessive pattern for them, so it tends to be rare.

They look rather clumsy for land-movement... I can't imagine them using their limbs for much else them moving 8D or some kind of walking?
Damn, their faces look great. 8D

They move like sealions do, and they don't move on land much. They inhabit islets in their mostly sea home, though they can also make them artifically. They are air-breathing creatures rather like amphibians.
