Description
There is very definitely a story behind this one, as it is a very personal piece that I have been meaning to do for a very long time. It's based on a dream I had a long long time ago when life was going quite badly for me. In this dream, the full moon outside made itself very small and drifted in to me through my bedroom window. I then took a wooden box out from beneath my bed.... a box where I stored my most precious things.... placed the moon inside the box, shut the lid, and put the box back underneath my bed. At the time, I believed it was a dream about putting away my dreams and forgetting about them as many people in my life were saying I should at the time.... so for a time I did just that.

I forgot this dream for quite awhile afterward. I was reminded again when I met Seth and began to get to know him. His screen name at the time was "suffocate the moon". I told him about this dream, as his screen name reminded me, and later on when our friendship developed into more, I was going to make the dream into a painting for him entitled Suffocate The Moon. Of course, I never got around to this.... until today. Only difference is that now, instead of suffocating the moon, I think I'm setting it free. Thus the name change for this piece to Hope Chest, and its dedication to ~whiskeypriest .
