This is an idea I had in my head for a little while before I really figured out how exactly I was going to bring it to life. It actually turned out to be something very different, and a little bit darker, than I originally envisioned, but that would hardly be the first time such a thing has happened with one of my pieces. The inspiration for this were a few lyrics from a song by Moby that has been stuck in my head for a good long while now.

Look at us, we're beautiful.
All the people push and pull,
But they'll never get inside.
We've got too much to hide.

To me, the song is about a couple who is so close they live in a world of their own to the near complete exclusion of everybody else, whether that is in a literal fashion or a figurative one, and it actually reminds me a bit of my fiance and I. We are definitely a reclusive couple with a tendency to brick ourselves up within our own little sanctuary more often than not. Stock used to help create this piece comes from *mjranum-stock for the figures and shutterstock.com for the background.

Very well done. It speaks a lot on many different levels. I can be such a hermit myself sometimes.

Aren't we all hermits one way or another: )))It's certainly a different approach but you have succeeded in sharing the message you were trying to convey in this piece. I like how you created the characters, it's different but it really encourage the viewer to think and see them differently.

I put this in my favourites because I can relate.

It is so hard to see the figures and they don't look human at first glance. I gather that making them difficult to see is the point, considering the theme of this work.

I am going to have to check out Moby.

Oh yes... definitely. I didn't want them to be obvious at first, but to seem like just another feature of their environment. I also wanted to do something a bit different from my usual stuff, so I played a bit with composition and such with this one.
