This is an idea I had in my head for a little while before I really figured out how exactly I was going to bring it to life. It actually turned out to be something very different, and a little bit darker, than I originally envisioned, but that would hardly be the first time such a thing has happened with one of my pieces. The inspiration for this were a few lyrics from a song by Moby that has been stuck in my head for a good long while now.

Look at us, we're beautiful.
All the people push and pull,
But they'll never get inside.
We've got too much to hide.

To me, the song is about a couple who is so close they live in a world of their own to the near complete exclusion of everybody else, whether that is in a literal fashion or a figurative one, and it actually reminds me a bit of my fiance and I. We are definitely a reclusive couple with a tendency to brick ourselves up within our own little sanctuary more often than not.
