Description This is a piece inspired by the movie Lady In The Water, and by "inspired by", I mean just that as opposed to "based on". This water nymph here is not meant to be the same one from the movie. The film itself was one of those creations you simply take in and can't help but be inspired by.

It's truly one of the great beauties of this world that beauty and creativity can so naturally foster more of the same. The most touching compliments I have ever received came in the form of another creative being letting me know that something I created or said inspired them to create something of their own, whether it was based on one of my creations or was a creation all its own. This painting is created to honor that passing of the flame from artist to artist.

Stock used to create this piece comes from `lockstock for the nymph and from sxc for the background.

Well, it's not OK if you chop the figure out of my artwork and use it in your own if that's what you're asking. However, the figure in this piece is based on a stock photo that was created so people could use it as a reference, in their own work, and so forth. Follow the link behind the model's name in my description, go through her gallery, and see if she still has the picture there, maybe?

Heaven forbid I would commit such an atrocity. I wouldn't be much of an artist I meant that I would use a similar scene of a red headed female rising from a pool of blood in a winter forest landscape. Just so happens that there was one reminiscent to my idea. I will use it as something to visualize by eye and not so much with my 'mind's eye' Thanks for your response and you're concern. Happy Holidays!!

Beautiful, but the shading/ shadows/ lighting/ style differs greatly from its' surroundings. The hair is a bit... odd as it seems to dissipate like ink or oil on the water. Very good, none-the-less ;D

Keep up the amazing work!

The red hair in contrast to the winter forest... How pretty. <3

I have yet to see Lady in the Water, but I know one thing. This is sheerly beautiful. The way she's posed, it's like she's taking in the first breath into a new life, taking it all in. The way the hair sinks in and surrounds makes it seem like she pulled through from another realm. Truly, an epic-win.

Wow... thank you so much! I really appreciated this comment. This is one of those pieces that I have a love/hate relationship with. I'm well aware that it's not perfect so I nitpick it to death every time I look at it, yet there is so much about it that I really like -- especially the concept, which is near and dear to my heart. You should rent Lady In The Water... and then if you like that one, rent The Village. You won't be sorry.

Your very welcome! I know how that goes. One moment you love it to death. The next moment, you keep finding things you want to change. But you leave it alone because you don't want to mess anything up. I saw The Village. That was a good one. I recently saw The Happening. Frightening but still a bit ispirational. His work really gets the mind going and keeps you wondering, "What if?"

But yes, again, thank you for the awesome work.

This is amazing, I seriously thought the water and background was real until I got a closer look. I really love her hair too, lately I've been liking rich dark red hair lately.

Thank you! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who truly loved that movie and appreciated it for what it was. Most reviews I read or heard from friends were quite negative. Not that everyone has to like everything, but I just don't think they "got it".

Yes, my friend who's seen it keeps telling me, "It was WEIRD! i didn't get it, what was the whole point to that movie?" but i found i couldn't explain, witch is a rarity in itself. so it's a movie that had even me, the toughest movie/book critic in my whole highsschool, toungtied, so it must be something spatacular. yes, most people just don't "Get it" and that mght be becuase of nowadays, people don't really watch movies anymore, only to see cool effects and cute actors, and all they want is a quick flick to pass time. V.V it's sad, really. Oh look, i've gone out on a rant again. sorry 'bout tha...

Wow.. very breath taking. And I can see how the movie inspired you to do this. The movie was very good. And if I was able to draw or something, I think I would have been leaning to what you have done here.

Again a very wonderful job here.
