Description (Scorpionis Volaticus) Or the Sailsting as coined by many of the biologists who sailed to Pandora. This rare "flying scorpion" was discovered shortly before the official ousting of all RDA assets off-world by the native population of Na'vi.

The Sailsting uses its bright display to blend in with the various floating vegetation and lure prey (generally the spinning lizards) within range of the venom-tipped stinger it carries underneath the bulbous body. It has been theorized that the Sailsting exhibits a slightly higher than average intelligence than its contemporaries and was even nominated among the top ten most likely species to evolve into sentience by the Argentinian Extraterrestrial Biological Survey or AEBS.

Wow. It's even creepier up close. I love the background. Could do with a wee bit more detail up top, just to bring a little more cohesion.

Like I mentioned in my text, I like the colors, though I think the skin could do with some extra texture to break it up and make it a little less cartoony. Maybe a scanned bit of leather overlaid with masking, or some such. More vibrant color patterns, like the leonopteryx or the ikran, or maybe subtler color patterns, like the thanator or viperwolf. Blending in with the foliage is priority when being a predator, and the glowy orbs definitely help there, though striations or multi-hued spots help too. Take the leopard or the tiger, for instance. The spots of the leopard emulate the sun dappled shadows of leaves through a canopy, while the stripes of the tiger are like the shadows of grass. The belly is a great start. Maybe expand that pattern up the sides, but not in glowy form.

*Shakes finger* What did we discuss about utilizing your line weights and hardness? His angler-fish-esque lure would be a little more visually effective if it weren't blocky with pixels. I know you have a pen tablet; USE IT TO THE FULLEST!

Overall, I've loved this concept from the moment you put it on a napkin, and I'm glad to see it brought to fruition. Keep going, and maybe we'll see some of your insanities in the next movie.
