Description
Hi!Decided to try something different! Much different!
A fly painting a giant venus flytrap!
This has actually been sitting around a few days waiting to be posted, and I finally got around to doing it!
I'm quite proud of this, and it was VERY fun to work on.
Anyway, I made up my own way of digital painting since I couldn't find any decent tutorials. And it came out much better than I originally thought it would! So anyway, I will definatly be doing more digital paintings. They're so fun!
I hope you enjoy, AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT!!

P.S- Oh, also gave my "studio" (if you could even call it that) a name. "Wolf Mountain Studio".
Just so it will be harder for people to steal, if anyone ever tries to.
Bye now!

((Sorry for the late reply, been a wee bit busy))
This is so clever! Seriously, it's the kind of idea I'd see one of my classmates using in a project. And a cute style too, nice mix between cartoony and a painting.
Like I said I really, really like the idea but your composition (how you've presented it) is a little weak. You should always try and send the viewers eye to your subject (in this case the painting fly), but here the plant is hogging the spotlight because the fly is so tiny and out of the way. I think if you'd draw with the fly close to the camera, and the perspective from a low angle, it would be a lot more effective. So that the viewer could be next to the fly, able to see his canvas and also looking up at the giant flytrap.
That's really my main suggestion c; Other than that, your colors and lighting look pretty good, remember to keep the roundness and volume of your objects in mind when you shade them. You are MILES beyond how I was when I was your age. Just keep practicing and doing what's fun for you, you'll improve before you know it!

Thank you so much!
But yes I have to agree with you on the fly, I felt it was a little to small and it seemed almost as if one's eyes could wander right past it...
Thank you again! ^^

(Be prepared for super-long comment time. xD)
First off, I LOVE the concept behind this! this is absolutely incredible! I love how you've put the flytrap in the light, to put it in more obvious focus, and with that wicked grin and it's "hips" jutted out like that, it almost looks like it's dancing! xD Kind of reminds me of a dancer in a spotlight. I think you should have more highlights on it, though, as the one on it's right petal (left to us) is perfect; the super-shiny reflets all the texture of a normal plant, and even though you may worry over using that white a lot, don't be. Just drop an extra layer in there and experiment with adding some extra "shininess" to the other aspects of the plant, and it might bring out some more consistancy, texture, and highlights in the picture. Don't be afraid to overdo it! Especially since you've already incorperated the "dark black" on the other side of the spectrum, so you really need to bring in some whites, otherwise there's not enough contrast in the picture and it doesn't catch the eye as much. But I do agree to make sure you're still going along with the basic "form" of the plant while you're adding the highlights; make sure you add to the definition, rather than lose the form in the midst of light. Like on the plant's left side (our right), you could bring in some of that white on it's petal and ESPECIALLY in the smile, to accentuate those wicked teeth!
And of course, don't limit this white-to-black contrast ratio just to the plant, otherwise, it will seem like it won't "fit" in the picture. Although I can see you've added white to some aspects in the background, try adding white to that tree on the far left, and some white "dew-spots" to the grass. But limit the contrast as you go further back, of course, as you have done. But keep in mind for future art; things receding into the distance do not become more blurry. I think in this case, you should have gone with a hard brush to paint all the trees in the background, and simply played around with the contrast a little to make them appear as though they wre gong off into the distance, for one because of that life rule, and two because you already have a blurred aspect: the foreground fly. And because this is a big part to the piece, you want to keep as many aspects of it as unique as possible, especially with how much of a good job you've done thus far, with the branch itself a little blurry and the fly super detailed. One thing I would suggest is bringing the branch forward, since it's creating a tangent with the dark/light line of the grass. Bringing it a little bit out of that and into the light would not only help the visual aspect of that, but it would also help to guide the eye over to it, as right now, it's hard to pick out at first; a pretty bad thing if it's a central point of the "story" of the picture.
...this is like my first ever "critique", so sorry if it fails a lot. xDD Point is... I LOVE THIS IDEA. 8DD

Oh wow! Hey, it doesn't fail at all! What you've said has helped me very much! I love your comments! <333
Actually the black s are just darker shades of every color-
I would never shade with pure black, but yes, the darker colors imitate it almost perfectly, unfortunatly.
As for the white, I didn't use much! Ya caught me there!
And I also never thought of adding dew drops!
Next time I make a digital painting though, I'll use your tips. Oh, also thanks for saying about the blurring- I've seen others
use it, and I confusidly (is that a word??? XDDD) followed them.
Thankyou again, very much so!

I hope that fly is far enough away from that flytrap! XD
