Description
If you've been collecting comics long enough you should recognise which covers this is based uponThe characters are some of 's Extinctioners and SFA's Atomic Mouse. I had the inklings of an idea for a story but I thinking I should focus my energies towards my own concepts and ideas. Still I hope you like it. Oh, I did the art for a couple Atomic Mouse stories and a cover.
I designed the logo used here.
Note: The lack of shading is because I was wanting to match the feel of the original covers.

Nice work, luckily the Atomic Mouse is public domain and available for remixing without fear.

I think I knew that, though SFA's Atomic Mouse isn't, if I understand correctly.Β I know this because I did some interior art and at least one cover for their series

I don't know if I still own an Atomic Mouse comic....
I read it they said Mighty Mouse and Atomic Mouse are 'cousins'. There is another comic super mouse hero but he's all brown furried. He was in a ThunderBunny comic.

I hadn't heard that about Mighty and Atomic, then again I didn't know that Mighty Mouse was originally called Supermouse until I saw a cartoon origin one afternoon.
I've heard of Thunderbunny, but not this mouse hero you mention.

Okay. I still have Thunderbunny so that means I still Atomic Mouse somewhere.
I was wrong about the cousin part. The brown-furred mouse is named Mucha Mouse. It is said he and Jerry the Mouse are distant cousins. Here, I'll give you word for word from the letters.
"Atomic Mouse, for those of you who don't know, was an early Charlton character of the Funny Animal persuasion who resembled a more famous Mouse, surnamed Mighty, who has also retired, as far we can determine. This issue's Mucha Mouse is not related to either of them (meaning Mighty Mouse and Atomic Mouse), but is believed to be a distant cousin of a certain Jerry the Mouse, who has no super powers at all but still is active in the cat teasing business after a long and distinguished career." ~ Chartlon Bulleye vol. 2, no. 6, March 1982 (has Thunder-bunny on the cover)
Mucha Mouse is a bit weird. ^^

Yeah M.M. was originally called Supermouse. XD
If I still have Thunderbunny comic, I'll find out more about the brown mouse. And I'll check Atomic Mouse, just for kicks. ^^

I'll say this about SFA's Atomic Mouse, it's biggest flaw was that it didn't know exactly what it wanted to be. And I say that having drawn some of the stories and a cover. Still, it was kinda fun.

Atomic Mouse - like Captain Carrot,he gets his super-powers from uranium pills supplied to him by a friendly astrophysicist. He keeps a ready-at-hand supply in the box on his belt buckle. Artist was El Pifco or something.
Not to be confused with SuperMouse who got super-powers from supercheese.

Except SFA's Atomic Mouse (pictured here) needed no uranium pills to keep his power levels up, except for one story where he swapped worlds with the original Atomic Mouse. But then he had to rely on one of Atomic Rabbits uranium enriched carrots to restore his power levels. And I know this because I drew the issue that story appeared in

This is great!! Great retro-feel! You captured the feeling and style of the art and look of the period while still adding a modern flair!
By the way, Chief, I added my Favs to Random, so I'll be faving more of your great work. Before, I was just letting the Favs go on one-at-a-time for a period...

I'm glad you like it I think my art in general is pretty much retro in feel. This be question is is it intentional or not
I look forward to more favs as I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful art.

No problem...Your work is very enjoyable. In style, I like the retro look of art more. Not because of nostalgia, but in my opinion the seeming simplicity of the art compliments the stories better. Don't get me wrong; I like detailed work, but sometimes it's easier to hide major flaws in the art with details, and harder to hide with more basic line work.
Thanks....Same here

speaking of mice, do you remember a cartoon made probably in the early nineties featuring some mutated mice that were as big as humans and rode motor bikes? there was an episode where they borrowed heavily from hamlet in a parody sort of way...

Hey, don't you be knockin' the Powerpuff Girls. Yu-Gi-Oh on the other hand you can knock, even if I did watch it (for the plot, not the card battles).

yourebroken In reply to Wom-bat [2006-10-15 10:35:21 +0000 UTC]
plot? what is this 'plot' of which you speak? i scorn the plot building efforts of such a thing. almost as much as i scorn dragon ball z, gt, etc. they're all rubbish.

Wom-bat In reply to yourebroken [2006-10-17 01:28:04 +0000 UTC]
I like the background of the cards and the fact that there was more to them than just a game. However it lost me towards the end.
Hey, I liked Dragonball. The initial arc wasn't just about the escalation of power. However I can kinda agree on DBZ.

maybe i just found boys anime so boring because it lacks fun and intellectual... anything. or maybe i just don't have the attention span to watch a series for three years where almost every episode is just a different cut of the same three frames of animation and everyone stands around going 'ha! hi-yah! kameya-meya!' etc. and no one stays dead.

Wom-bat In reply to yourebroken [2006-10-22 20:24:42 +0000 UTC]
You have a good point. While I like the backstory of Dragonball and DBZ, the combats without end do tend to get old after a while. So what kind of anime, if any, do you watch?

yourebroken In reply to Wom-bat [2006-10-23 10:30:43 +0000 UTC]
i the fun anime! i adore fruits basket and chobits right now. azumanga daioh's another favourite, and astro boy. i loved bubblegum crisis 2040, and i'm a huge fullmetal alchemist fan. of course there's the classic that is sailor moon - i've loved that show for years and years.
i love the fun stuff. you can also write pretty easy yaoi and yuri fanfic for most of those shows.

I'm familiar with most of those, I saw part of BGC2040 but until I see more I think I'll still prefer the original. Yes, I'll admit it. I have watched and enjoyed Sailor Moon (and this was the apparantly horrible english dub, so I'd probably like the original as well).
Fanfic eh? I was wonder if that word would pop up here

Yes, the original BubbleGum Crisis, a 7 episode OAV. It might be difficult to find but worth it if you can.

I just combined characters from a couple of SFA's titles and did a little homage to an old comic book cover. Still the idea was kinda original on my part. Either way, I'm glad you like it
