Except that their origin seems to have been CHANGED since Superman could not have been tangled up with them in their receiving their powers. Blame Final Crisis !

I blame Final Crisis for ruining the characters. As for their origin being changed, they never retconned his involvement, so as far as I'm concerned, he still showed up.
Now the big question, are the Zoo Crew out there in the New52 stuff?

I don't know ! I haven't been reading ANY DC stories. All my info I garnered from Wikipedia, and what I've read was a turn-off.
It WOULD have been intriguing if it was Atomic Mouse instead of Superman.

That last mini series was pretty much an insult to the fans. Probably why SFA did a one-shot giving the Zoo Crew a more upbeat ending.
