Description
Silly Nintendo. Using their casual gamer cast to promote hardcore RPGs (or even just implying that anything involving 'customising characters' makes you at all cool).Silly Silly Nintendo.

I focus on defense and offense.
And other stats when I have the opportunity.

Square-Enix did the same with that shitty X Factor winner Leona Lewis to buttfuck Final Fantasy XIII just to promote her own shitty CD yet Nintendo did worse by having Jedward ruin the idea of buying Dragon Quest IX.

N... Nintendo...? What? You think Nintendo is behind Dragon Quest IX and it's shenanigans?
Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior is a series that has been longer-running than Final Fantasy. Talking original release of 1986. Not all of the characters in the games have been customizable, but ALL of them have been this 'funny' in some way at least.
So it's not like this is a new thing, or some gimmick for 'casuals.' There have always been silly puns in Dragon Quest, and silly things like cucumbers and evil cats. There have also been genuine nightmare-inducing demon sequences and a [link] " Sephiroth that predates Sephiroth.
The older Dragon Quests are much, much harder than any 'hardcore' RPG released today... If you think 'Nintendo Hard' is hard, you really, really have not seen 'Enix Hard.'
Just saying. Don't knock a game when you don't seem to know a whit about it's history or franchise.

I'm not knocking the game, just the advertising.

Oh.
DERP.
But then again I somehow wonder if it was a corporate stealth-trolling attempt.
I mean, who would EVER commission Seth Green to be taken seriously...?

It's at least better than the Z-List we got in the UK.

Technically, Dragon Quest doesn't belong to Nintendo. Though some of their games may be on Nintendo systems, that doesn't necessarily mean it belongs to Nintendo. It just means they think Nintendo would make them more successful.

I actually wished that they showed more of the different elements of the game in the adverts, like some of the actual story, or the variety of vocations and what they can do, or some of the battle elements. Most of the adverts advertising Dragon Quest IX just seem all the same to me when I see them on the TV. Your comic satirises that pretty well. Nice work.

I like that you can make your own little party....but I dislike that it makes your party HALLOW and boring.. dragon quest is all about the atmosphere and the writing.... I want a Yangus in my party.

The customization would have been cool if you didn't have to change your clothing every time you want to get stronger.
What's the point of customizing your person with clothes that you like when you're forced to change them anyway? And on that subject, almost everyone in your party needs to wear the same thing anyway thanks to the fact that the stats may be better.

NOPE. After you get enough skill points in certain areas like Virtue [Paladin], you'll get your Natural Maximum HP +80, Defensive bonuses in others, etc. Eventually, after enough hours of play, you'll be so strong that you can negate the defects of older equipment without much penalty. Don't forget to revocate too because that will allow you to get more skill points. (It's comparable to Call of Duty's "Prestige mode" except you keep all of the "perks".)

Uh...thanks, but I was talking about throughout the whole game, not about the time after you start to God mode.
Again, you missed the point.

LOL Damn. Well, I've got one more shot before I strikeout I suppose. I think the developers took part of that into consideration when they made certain items look exactly the same when you alchemize them to be better. For instance, the Magical Hat can be upgraded to the Mega-Magical Hat. I think it was that they picked items that they thought would be most liked.

Actually when I mentioned the "same" I was referring to the fact that equipping everyone with the optimal equipment during certain points of the game can end up with them all wearing the same hat, shirt, etc.
Good game. lol

True the comment below; I adore this game because of customisation. I mean, really! Who wouldn't want to have the awesome fighting game that is Dragon Quest and mix it up with Sims Level Customisation?
...Still, Stella needs to stop saying anything to do with 'flap'. xD I think we ALL know what she really wants to say.

You're wrong. Just sit there in your wrongness and be wrong.
You sir (or madam), obviously aren't aware that this game actually broke a world record BECAUSE of it's popularity.
"The sales of Dragon Quest IX set new records in Japan; these sales helped boost Nintendo's earnings and have impacted future plannings by the company. Dragon Quest IX set a Guiness World Record with its 'Canvass For Guests' mode surpassing 100 million people communicating anonymously as reported on May 20, 2010."
If it's popular in Japan, it's BOUND to be popular here.
People just hate Stella, the fairy because of her "flappity" nature.

Lol, I got the game... And don't get all excited about customizing your character... There are over 1,000 items (in general) but you don't have much to chose from for the character itself... There's only 10 faces, 10 hairstyles, and very few colors... Oh well! Those are $35.00 I won't be getting back... Might as well keep playing the game... :/

So what you're saying is, is that casuals can't play this game? Well we can play whatever we want, I played Devil may cry4, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Street Fighter 4, and Brutal Legend on the PS3, and I don't dedicate my life.
I got an idea, how about we sue nintendo, that would be a fantastic idea, to teach them a lesson for advertising hardcore games like this
SSSSSSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRCAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMM *ORGASM*

No, just that you can't advertise hardcore titles in the same way as all the Wii Fits/Brain Training/etc.

While that's still a valid argument in some way, they might be doing that just so they can gain a broader audience. Plus, so what if the game becomes non-hardcore because it's being advertised to casuals up the wazoo, at least the game is still good, right?

We don't have Seth over here, just generic kiddies, but I have seen the ad on Youtube and the premise is the same; you can't convince regular people that RPGs are cool by pointing out they can wear a fur poncho.
