My final project for my drawing class. I know, it's not goofy like my other stuff, but I don't think that my hippy art teacher would appreciate my original idea as much as the deviant art public. (I was originally going to do a bunch of illustrations for a Steely Jack Vs. The Dreaded Were-Moose of Bonanza Basin children's book). Actually... I'll post an older sketch that I did for that idea in my scraps folder.For this project I decided to do a landscape showing the flow of the sky and the ocean. If you haven't noticed yet, I really like swirling shapes and I also really like sunsets. This took me FOREVER, and I'm so very sick of drawing clouds now.
Edit: Had enough people complain about the black on the rocks to warrant a change. I also changed the angle of the top clouds to make it flow a little better.

Those different layers and colours of clouds are dope! So well swirled and structured. Brilliant job with the outlines, dan. It actually looks like you knew what you were doing haha. The reflections are always hard to demonstrate in an illustration especially vector art I guess (I say that because I'm inexperienced in the vector field). Just a magnificent job overall really. BUT I miss the jokes

No, no real hidden pictures. I was constantly tempted to do that, but it was for my upper level drawing class, so I was trying my damnedest not to make it a "Where's Waldo".
Are you talking about the reflections on the water? Yeah... I think if I were to actually go back and work on this one, I'd put more work into the water... and that rock structure.

I really love your color scheme in this piece. It kind of looks like a sunset but with the colors it makes it look very odd in a good way

The Hippy Phrase is quite alright. Almost fitting either. The purpose of that drawing was to do something that really flowed nicely, or "organically". I did it for a drawing class. That's why it's so different from my other stuff, and why it borders on hippyesque.

Wow man, this is really kick ass. Amazing work on the clouds and water. I love how the top of the waves are hinted with the yellow from the sun. The only thing that bothers me really is the rock. I'm not feelin the black, its not in the rest of the piece, so i dont think it should be there either.

ha ha. Yeah, I love drawing all those shapes that flow between and into one another. For me when I look at photos or drawings with those qualities I just love to follow the lines and shapes.

I only used two layers, and one of the layers is just the white border and my signature. I think I do vectors really differently from how other people do them. I also use Flash, so maybe it has something to do with that.

Actually, now that you mention it there IS actually an image that I purposefully hid in it. It's just a woman's lips. I don't really know why I drew it in there though....
