Description So this is second result. Tested one interesting algorithm I tough of for determining collision angles of object defined by picture Seems it works

So when on ground it shows normal vector of surface (approximately).

When not on ground it spawns water particles.

Click to generate new random Cavern.

Ouh and it is for Ludum Dare 15 48 hours game design competition which Theme is Caverns. Just showing progress + decided to share here as this seems to be little bit fun already.

Also it means that tomorrow evening if I will finish something playable I will share the source code... Will see

nav ne vaines.. lai arii taa arii neatradu kaa tos punktinjus uztaisiit mazaakus
bet smuki.. pieliec klaat veel kaut kaadu avota teceeshanas skanju - vispaar buus uljots

tikai tur kad uzliek taa lai tie punkti tiktu gjenereeti ar maksimaali izmeetaatu trajektoriju no avota - punkti iestreegst tais sienaas.. gljuks sanaak

So what's your method of determing the angle of collision? Check in a circle around the hit point, then average the angle of all collisions in that circle; But maybe with preset pixel lookups instead of stepping through every angle?

are u planning to give the particles volume?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wonderwhy-ER In reply to javamocha [2009-08-30 08:21:05 +0000 UTC]

Yes but I fail I mean that making it fast and stable is very hard... Did a version with that yesterday but it behaves very weird...

Well I uploaded what I got. It does try to pertain volume but does not succeed at it that much. May be I will be trying to do something more.

Hehe this is fun, reminds me of lemmings XD
This could be used to make an amazing effect for water, or any fluid.

Could... Not shore I will succeed tough... Particle-Particle collision is a problem...

this is fun, i really like how the particals bounce off walls

Yeah tough of original algorithm on how to find walls angle from picture

Lovely! I wonder how demanding performence wise it would be to add collision detection between the particles in this demo. It'd make a cool fluid effect.

I am working on it but making it fast and stable(so that volume is preserved) and still inertial is really hard...

Yeah but I may fail to do it in time... Wanted water like thing and tested bunch of my untested ideas... Some worked. Some not... So I kind of failed so far But it is day 2. So may be I will be able to fix it today

Nice. You should make it that the bottom is the top!

Eh? So it fall from bottom to top?

Keydan In reply to wonderwhy-ER [2009-08-29 18:05:12 +0000 UTC]

No. That once they fall bown, they reapear at the top!
