Description
The two Wall.es landed in an ungainly heap of arms, legs, wings, and tails on a catwalk about halfway between the top of the probe ship and the deck at the bottom. E.v.e. AX 001 landed on top of them mere seconds afterwards, issuing a strangled cry as the air was knocked out of her lungs. The three stowaways lay where they fell for a moment, catching their breath after the sudden fall. When they had sufficiently recovered from the impact, they untangled themselves from each other and awkwardly got back onto their feet. They then gazed up at the probe ship, and E.v.e. AX 001 silently guesstimated that they'd just fallen several dozen meters from where they had been. She then leaned over the edge of the railing and similarly guessed that the floor was several dozen meters below them. Her attention was drawn to her dormant counterparts when Wall.e 181835 squeaked, "E.v.e.-A!", and leaned off the edge of the railing, one hand blindly flailing for the dormant E.v.e. CL 001 in front of him. E.v.e. AX 001 joined him and Wall.e 181838 at the end of the catwalk, and, thinking quickly, swiped a stray clod of semi-solid grease off of Wall.e 18135s armor, smudging it all over the right side of her radio collar. This hid her specific designation, allowing her to blend in with the Columbias E.v.e. probes. She then watched as a robotic arm pulled a dormant E.v.e. probe from its capsule, and, struggling not to drop it, carted the dormant probe off to a line of sterilizer lights. E.v.e. AX 001 continued to watch the arm, silently counting the E.v.e. probes that were picked up and dropped off beneath the lights. She grinned when she noticed that there were five lights, and only four probes in this particular rack.
E.v.e. AX 001 signaled to the two Wall.es to hide on top of the sterilizer lights, seeing as no one ever checked there. She then hurriedly dove into a capsule and shut down, pretending to be running on minimum power. The robotic arm reached in shortly after she dove into the capsule, and pulled her out of it. Her mind raced as the arm started carrying her towards the UV lights, almost dropped her three times in a row (she hated when the robotic arm did that), and finally dropped her under the lights... upside down. She felt Wall.e 181838 reach down, grab her tail, and shove it away from the light, throwing her into a vertical spin as if she were doing gymnastics on a pole. She then felt her head gently smack into Wall.es greave, and she felt Wall.e 181838 grab her shoulder and gently turn her around so that she was facing the probe ship and not the inside doors. E.v.e. AX 001 briefly turned on her visor and noticed that Wall.e 18135 hadn't followed her directions. he was standing on the floor next to his dormant boyfriend, trying to rouse him from his apparent slumber. At that moment, the Columbias Mo arrived, leading his own squadron of cleaner cyborgs. He did a double take on seeing the absolutely filthy Wall.e 181835, and squawked, [Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah, woah! 100% Foreign Contaminant?!? Not in my docking port! CLEAN 'EM, BOYS!] The cleaning crew immediately surrounded a confused and frightened Wall.e 181835 and proceeded to give him a much needed bath. E.v.e. AX 001 heard her girlfriend lapse into an understanding giggle fit as hundreds of years worth of dirt, dust, and parasites went flying off of him, leaving him freshly cleaned, except for the soles of his boots. The cleaner crew then proceeded to start cleaning off the E.v.e. probes, and E.v.e. AX 001 was forced to turn her visor off. She hoped that the clod that she'd smeared on her collar would withstand the vigorous bath she would be shortly subjected to.
Perched on the lights above, Wall.e 181838 watched her friend walk off with the cleaning crew. She glanced down at her girlfriend, who was still hovering beneath the lights, pretending to be dormant. She had to admit that E.v.e. AX 001 was playing a pretty clever- if simple trick on the Columbias GO-4. She then noticed a small patch of grease that had washed off of E.v.e. AX 001's collar, and, pulling a stray grease splotch off her own forearm greave, smeared that onto the washed off area, and then moved back into position on top of the lights. She watched as the Columbias Mo glanced at the dirty bootprints on the floor, nearly brushed them off, and then did a double take and started hurriedly scrubbing them off the floor with his rollers. He followed the boot prints to Wall.e 181835, rolled in front of him, and then waved at him to lift his feet so that he could clean the soles of his boots off. Wall.e 181835 misinterpreted the signal and instead smudged the toe of one boot on the floor, leaving a dirt splotch in the middle of it. The Columbias Mo gasped, and scrubbed the splotch off, then tapped the floor with his roller, squeaking, [Look, it stays clean, got it?] Wall.e 18135, confused, then smudged the sole of his boot on Mos face. The robot screamed and began frantically scrubbing the dirt off his face while the Columbias GO-4 slipped in, unnoticed.
E.v.e. AX 001 waited with bated breath as GO-4 hovered down the line of dormant probes, scanning each one in turn. He muttered as he scanned, [E.v.e. CL 005- negative, E.v.e. Cl 004- negative, E.v.e. CL 003, negative...] E.v.e. AX 001 switched on her visor when Go-4 hovered past her, and towards E.v.e. Cl 002. He then stopped, and turned around, remarking, [Wait a minute...] E.v.e. AX 001 shut off her visor again as he hovered back towards her, and scanned her again. He then commented, [Hey, Mo- you missed a spot. Go over E.v.e. Cl 003's collar again- there's a smudge of grease on the right side.] He then continued onto E.v.e. Cl 002, and E.v.e. AX 001 turned her visor back on for the second time in less than a minute. She watched and listened as GO-4 continued, [E.v.e. CL 002- negative, E.v.e. Cl 001- POSITIVE?!?] Alarms started blaring at once, and all hell broke loose. Wall.e 181838 tumbled off the lights with a loud yelp, startled by the sudden alarms. E.v.e. Ax 001 broke her cover in an instant, catching her girlfriend before she could hit the floor, and GO-4 noticed the commotion, turned, and once again rushed towards E.v.e. AX 001, apparently shocked that she wasn't dormant after all. This was compounded when Wall.e 181838 accidentally smudged the grease off of E.v.e. AX 001's radio collar, and GO-4 scanned her for the third time. He then half shouted, [E.V.E. AX 001?!? AND WALL.E 18138?!? ON THE COLUMBIA?!? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?] He then acutally shouted, [WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?] when Wall.e 181835 rushed to his boyfriend and started pulling him away from the lights, hissing at the SECUR-Ts which were trying to load him onto a transport. Recovering from the shock, GO-4 then hopped onto the transport, and all three stowaways began to chase it towards the bridge, variously shouting about boyfriends. brothers, and best friends as they stampeded after the transport and the SECUR-TS surrounding it.
Mo watched in confusion as the mini-stampede rushed out the door, then noticed the fresh bootprints on the floor. There was only one set of bootprints for three stowaways. He thought back to his old pal on the Axiom, and wondered what he would do in this situation. Mo them remembered that the Axioms Mo had gone through a similar situation... except that he had dealt with one stowaway, not three. Mo then glanced at the bootprints again, and prepared to jump off the line. He chuckled when he received a buzzer for his transgression, and then mused that it he had a deerstalker, he would have adjusted it right now. As he began to clean up the offending bootprints, Mo muttered, [Just you wait Moriarty! Sherlock Holmes will connect you to this case even if he has to plunge off the Reichenbach Falls to do it!]
